Password reset problem

Recommended Posts

I have not used Emby for a couple of years and have lost my password so cannot sign in to Emby on the NAS - the password/user combination in my profile does not work. When I apply for a new password, I get a reply that a message has been sent to /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/etc/etc. I have no idea what this means - CACHEDEV1 does not show up on my NAS File station. I am not a techie - for me, the NAS is a hard disc on the network and I know nothing of its internals. And, as I am 82 years old I don't have the time to learn!!

So, could someone at Emby please find a simple way of sending me the password reset infomation. eg to the email address listed in my profile??

Also, where do I check whether or not I have a Premiere account.

Many thanks in advance - Roy

hi, the server gave it to you, you just have to be able to get to that folder. Have you taken a look at this?

Emby Server Data Folder

Luke - thanks for your reply. I had seen this folder - it tells me where the information is but not how to access it. As I said, I am not technical, and I don't want to get involved with hidden folders and SSH or similar. I cannot think of any other program/app. that I use that doesn't send password reset info. via email.

When I first installed Emby I decided it came closer than any other media program to giving me what I want across music, photos and video but sadly it looks as tho' it is intended more for the technical person with a media interest rather than those, like me, whose main interest is media-led and who have limited technical knowledge.

If you can supply guidance to help me get signed-on, I would like to continue using Emby but otherwise I guess I am stuck

I will help you get through the steps. I am afraid you will need to access the QNAP filesystem directories / files directly

First step is to get SSH enabled on the QNAP

Have  a look at this QNAP document:

How Do I Access My QNAP NAS Using ssh

Once you have SSH enabled, then download WinSCP - I am assuming you are a Windows user

WinSCP Download

With SSH enabled on the NAS and WinSCP downloaded and installed, launch it

Click on "New Site"

Enter the IP Address of the QNAP in the "host name" field.

Enter the QNAP admin account name (this is "admin") in the "User Name" field and the admin password in the Password

and click on login

Once you are connected to the QNAP - you can get a screenshot and paste here

We need to use the explorer like view in WinSCP to locate the folder

/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/programdata

First thing to try is search your emails inbox. Search for mail

from: billingsupport@emby.media

or search for mail containing this text: "Welcome to Emby Premiere"

It will need to be the mailbox for the email account you used for purchasing Emby Premiere
