Rew452 17 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 On my Nvidia Shield ATV Pro I am getting when opening Emby this message "Unable to connect to configure server" this last for second or so and goes away. I Have up to now ignored this since movies and video's all seems to play. I need to explain that a couple months ago I changed from a Qnap NAS to a Asustor SSD NAS using the same IP as Qnap which is no longer on my network, For the most part everything seems to play Bluray's, DVD's & video's; But I add a new mp4 video and it is slow to start on Emby and then plays for few seconds and seems to buffer and plays a few seconds, repeating. Other mp4 video's play fine. The offending mp4 video plays fine on my PC so I don't think the files is bad. Is there some setting that need to be change after changing NAS's?? Thanks Rew
visproduction 363 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Suspect file permissions need to be set correctly in Asustor NAS. see: https://www.asustor.com/en/online/College_topic?topic=110

Rew452 17 Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 Thanks guys, checked the file and Asustor file permissions and they look fine. I still think it has to do with Emby on Shield ATV, remember when I first enter Emby it displays "Unable to connect to configure server with the (server name)" for a second or two and then disappears. I never saw this message when I ran Emby server on my old Qnap NAS. Thanks

This is unrelated to whatever issue you are having with playback. Try signing out, remove the server and the add it back and sign back in again.
Rew452 17 Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 Hi, While in Emby app I see User name and under that, 1. Switch Server. 2. Sign out 3. Unlock App. I can sign out, which drops me out of Emby on Shield and then selecting Emby it opens again. But don't see anywhere to remove and add back in a server.
Rew452 17 Posted June 15 Author Posted June 15 Thanks erb, Removed server and added again. Did not make any difference to playback. While playing I copied Emby's Now Playing screen is the conversion the problem? Stream MP4 (12 mbps) HLS (18 mbps) Converting video to compatible codec Video 4K AV1 Transcode (H264 18 mbps) Audio AAC stereo (Default) Direct Play Thanks Rew
visproduction 363 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 (edited) Suspect your bit rate transcoding setting is too high. You are 6 times higher than any bitrate that I have on my old server which only runs up to 1080P. Maybe if you have top gear and all connections work perfectly and your sever, TV app or browser and network can handle your higher bitrate. I never test that much bitrae for 4K, so I don't know. WIthout a log, there is no way to see. At 18 mbps seems that this may be the issue. mp4 is hardly ideal for 4K. My server works fine at less than 3 mbps for video streaming. Please atach the logs. We cannot tell from video settings. No logs is a little like asking a mechanic to tune your car over the phone. Edited June 15 by visproduction
Solution Rew452 17 Posted June 15 Author Solution Posted June 15 Thanks to all! After, with your help the playback problem is resolved. I had moved to a new PC over the last month and had used 4KDownloader for some time now and it's default settings was the problem. I changed the Quality settings down to 1080p and everything now works correctly. Also, when I signed out and removed the server and then also the old server, then adding the new server corrected the "Unable to connect to configure server" message on Emby startup. Again Thanks to all of you for pointing me to the right settings that needed to be change. Rew 1
