Emby use on Sony Viera TV

Hi all,

I'm thinking about purchasing a new Sony Bravia TV with Google TV but curious how the Emby apps work with Google TV.  At the moment my normal process is DLNA but I get frustrated that it doesn't remember the last episode that I watched so I've switched to using the app on my mobile and casting to the screen but would prefer native on the TV if possible.

Phenomenally well.  I have been using the Android TV app on a Bravia KD55x85K  for a couple years and it works very well. 

The added bonus is you can manage your server from the TV.  

I use Roku, browser and Android TV with Emby and by far prefer the android TV app.

Ok thanks. Just realized I mentioned Viera not Bravia....ooops

Sounds good, just not seen it working so wasn't sure how it did work

Just noticed the Roku stick as well and somehow thought they were a lot more expensive. Do they work well as that could be a solution for our bedroom TV, which is probably where we watch most of the TV programs from my collection... downstairs is mainly movies

Yes.....but....Watch what you get as far as playback. There are some limitations on the Roku when it comes to HD and 4K playback.   I have a Roku Ultra as well (had it before the TV) and its good, just limited in 4k playback capabilities.

Ok thanks, probably wouldn't in interested in 4k anyway.

Although I've just noticed that the TCL TV range have Google TV and their C7K seems to be a highly rated screen compared to the Sony I was looking at

Should work the same then. Make sure you use the Android app not the old Android TV app.

Was just going to reply actually as my new TCL TV has arrived and Emby works perfectly thank you
