markdj 55 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Hi, is there any way to change a movie's poster (also) based on the audio track? Let's say I have an animated movie with two different languages (English and something else), can I select the English audio track and let Emby show the English poster and by selecting the other audio track show a different poster? Would be great for movies with different dubs and even different titles (like Zootopia is called Zootropolis in Europe I think). And it would of course be even greater if there could be an accompanying summary (that you can enter manually, as I don't think the metadata providers provide in other languages than English?) in the user's native language, for example so that kids can read it easier or by themselves. (Sorry for the bad images, these are caused by HDR) 1 2 1
Suliamu 50 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Nice idea. But i would not just keep it on the details page of a mediaitem, but also on the Startpage depending on which default language is chosen by the user in the options. Also tvdb, tmdb give poster images with a language tag attached already. Should be quite easy to implement this.
Smitty018210 160 Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I would love this and would like to add to it different version of movies. Like you directors cut, theatrical, 4k, ect all having different covers would be really cool.
Luke 42555 Posted May 30 Posted May 30 HI, yea it's not a bad idea, although our TV layouts generally don't use the poster unless configured to. Also one could argue the effect might be jarring. But I can see the appeal. 2

And the images pulled from tmdb and tvdb and so on are tagged already with languages. So why you think this would be hard to implement? Edit: Btw i mean the thing with showing specific language posters in the interface according to the setting used. This idea to change the poster when you switch through the language tracks was not the primary thing i had in mind when i wrote my comment. Even tho this also wouldn't be a very hard job, i just don't think that this feature alone would be used very much. Edited May 31 by Suliamu
yocker 1614 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 I could see this being very useful. I have to have multiple libraries depending on language and this would be a great start to being able to merge them and limit the number of libraries. 1

Completely alter the way you're storing and naming images. Introduce code to change the UI on the fly, which currently doesn't exist. It would be a significant job, for something that very few users are ever going to encounter. 1
Luke 42555 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Yes there would need to be new naming conventions for images, as well as lots of decision making in the apps over what image to use at what time. 1
