I'm pretty sure this has already been requested (multiple times), but for the life of me I couldn't find those FR's. Regardless, here goes:

Currently Chrome and browsers alike support handling notifications. Emby Server uses this for the dashboard on it's own to send messages from the browser to the admin, which is nice. Android and iOS have similar permission-based notification systems so the question arises;

1. Why isn't it possible to send push notifications to users (to notify them of new release for example, or scheduled maintenance, etc)?
2. Is this on the roadmap and if not, is this something we will see in the (somewhat) near future?

I feel Emby would really benefit from this.

It should be possible.
Install plugin for what ever notification system you want, lets say pushover.
Have the user set up hes own notifications under app settings -> notifications.

That's not what I'm referring to. There should be no need for a third-party platform/integrations since these systems all support their own modi of notifications?

Hi, yes this is something that we plan to add in future updates. Thanks.
