achalmers 3 Posted Tuesday at 03:44 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:44 AM Hello. My many years old W10 install (on a VM) went corrupt and after hours I cant fix the windows host. I'm trying to get Emby fired back up via a linux VM. I not very experienced in Linux and I've tried deploying this in docker via docker compose. After a lot of handholding from various AI I have Emby working / playing etc. But I cannot get it to register user accounts on my server with their Emby Connect account. This is behind a reverse proxy (HAProxy run on pfSense) which has been setup and working for years with the Windows host. The new Ubuntu host has the same IP the windows host had. I can access the server remotely via my fqdn / etc. But registration with Emby Connect fails. Attaching the logs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! embyserver.txt

Solution ebr 16169 Posted Tuesday at 02:59 PM Solution Posted Tuesday at 02:59 PM Hi. It looks like maybe you restored from a backup or cloned the old server in some way. Try this: Shut down your server. Find the 'data' folder under your Emby Server programdata folder find and delete the 'device.txt' file in there re-start the server Now see if it works. Note that this will require you to re-connect all Emby Connect accounts.

So....I had linked backup plugin to my backup folder and I think I did the extract user from backup thing. I later tried to completely load a full-backup but I took a VMware snapshot before executing that. Good thing too because it failed spectacularly. I assume because pretty much all directories / file paths etc are way different from the Windows environment I was using. I had reverted to the VM snapshot so I didn't think that full restore was a variable - I wasn't trying to withhold info. Maybe it was from the user import which was pre-snapshot? Either way thank you ! Edited Tuesday at 08:43 PM by achalmers
achalmers 3 Posted Tuesday at 08:55 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 08:55 PM @ebr one more weird seemingly related issue that only occurred after implementing the suggested fix... Let me know if I should open a new thread. Now my server still has the "Get Emby Premiere" at the top right, and when I go to the Emby Premier settings page and enter my license key it says it works, but doesnt seem like it. It says "Thank you, Your Emby Premiere Key has been updated" but I get a weird spinning circle that never goes away. Please see screen shot. I restarted Emby and same issue. Attaching Screen Shot and fresh logs embyserver.txt

Browser console shows the attached image
ebr 16169 Posted Tuesday at 11:25 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:25 PM Okay, that would actually indicate that your server is not validating properly but it could also be some sort of proxy interfering. The log you provided above does not contain a validation attempt. Please try the procedure here: My Emby Key Says it is Invalid or Missing

Blanking out the key, saving, and then re-attempting resolved it. Thanks again! 1
