Latest Emby Windows App Frequently Hangs While Starting

Emby Version 2.234.2.0 and Windows 11 Home Version 25H2 OS build 26200.8246.
No additional windows updates available.

Emby is still not working.

UPDATE, I:

1.      Uninstalled Emby for windows

2.      Installed Emby Beta for windows

3.      Emby Beta for windows would not load past the splash screen – the same problem I was having with Emby for windows (stable)

4.      As Windows Admin, ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

5.      As Windows Admin, ran sfc /scannow. Result = “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them”

6.      Restarted Windows

7.      Emby Beta for windows now works.

Windows update, updated windows to:

Edition    Windows 11 Home

Version    25H2

OS build   26200.8328

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.304.0

 

Windows Store updated Emby Beta latest version = 2.304.2.0

 

Now Emby will not load past the splash screen again.

 

Previous fix does not resolve the issue.

 

I have tried all that I can think of to fix the issue with no success.

 

Is anybody having similar problems?

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix the issue?

@softworkzwill need to take a look at this if it’s a windows update issue, the app should be independent of windows components so it doesn’t break just like the electron version.

@softworkzhas packaged the new app to be indpendent of windows components but there must be something that has slipped past the goal posts.

I'm sure he's investigating.

Zerk player is worth looking at, it doesnt yet support GPU-Next, vulcan or opengl but is pretty good for an initial crack.

It uses MPV and you can edit mpf.conf or just use the built in menu options which simply edit the conf anyway.

Windows just pushed an update and updated windows to the following version:

Edition             Windows 11 Home

Version             25H2

OS build           26200.8457

Experience     Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.304.0

Windows store also updated WinAppRuntime.Singleton to 8002.0.1.0

Emby Beta is now working again!

So, it does appear that windows components are affecting Emby.

Fingers crossed that Emby Beta keeps working.  I will advise of any change to the situation.

Because 26200.8328 was a public optional Preview update and 26200.8457 is a public regular Patch Tuesday/security cumulative update.

So you were among those users where MS is testing updates before releasing them to the masses.

No I don't have that switched on, but it is possible that I clicked the button to manually install a preview version of Windows
