transfer user watch status from no longer available email

My sister in law and her partner had an Emby account for my server, but now that her partner passed away, she no longer has access to the original email used for her Emby account, and can't log into some devices.  Is it as easy to transfer the watch status , etc, to a new email address as changing the Emby Connect email address from the old user to the new one on my server(if she sets up a new one)?

It looks like it's as simple as updating the email address tied to the user.

Updating the email will give your sister direct access to login to their partners account.

If they were sharing an account, that could be ok. If they have separate accounts though, I'd transfer the data from one account to the other.

Transferring the watch history from one user to another:

Using the backup and restore plugin, select 'extract user data from backup'. Select the checkbox beside the username for the old account, then change the dropdown box beside that to the user you want that data imported into.

 

Finally click 'restore from backup' inside that extract user data window.

An example:

('Test' is the user receiving the data, 'Joe' is where the watch history is coming from)

What I ended up doing was having her create a new emby connect account, then putting the new emby connect email address into the email on her user.  It looks like this worked.
