AV1 decode

I'm currently trying to get my library converted to AV1, whereas I previously converted to HEVC.
Using Tdarr with an Intel A310 to do that.

Now for live transcoding in Emby I'm sticking with the UHD770 (12600k)
I recall in the past that I needed a specific version to actually make it work for HEVC -> AVC transcoding on oncompatible clients.
I believe 31.0.101.5085 was one of the few versions that worked normally.
If I recall correctly this was fixed in a more recent Emby update. While the latest driver still didn't work, the one 2 versions back did.

With my test library in AV1 I run into the same issues again.
My GPU is recognized perfectly in the transcoding sections of Emby.
So I've selected quicksync on AV1 (well, on all formats tbh) on the UHD770.
Weirdly enough anytime Emby needs to transcode it falls back to software decoding.

I've tried the latest 3 drivers from the intel site, as well as the "legacy" version mentioned above, all without success.
Intel is making it even harder with a driver change recently (splitting 11-14th gen to a legacy fork), meaning I can only go back 3 versions on their site.

Has someone here got a similar configuration to work and is able to point to my error and/or a compatible driver version?

If what you are trying to do is hw-decode av1 and hw-recode to h264 on qsv? It is working here. Dont know what differs in config for me and you, but im using intel driver 32.0.101.7029.

Thanks for your input.
I see you're decoding on D3D11VA, not Quicksync.
Don't know what's supported exactly, or what's recommended.

However as D3D11VA should utilize the GPU, I guess it's completely fine.
I'll give it a go, thanks again!

Quicksync is 1. in row, Emby must use D3D11VA instead for some reason. I dont know why

Most likely the content exceeds some limit of what the quicksync decoder can handle.
