Hi, yes certainly.

Hi,

I have an idea. It's a little bit crazy, but hear me out.

What if you started testing the apps before you pushed them to production? That way, all of your LG users' apps wouldn't have to be broken now.

Thank you for considering this idea!

What a nuanced response! Listen, I'm affected by this bug too and yes, it's annoying to have to wait. Here's the thing, they do test their apps before pushing to production, but you likely don't know that it only affects 2018 and 2019 TVs. They cannot be expected to have a TV from every year available to them to test the app on and mistakes happen. I do hope this is a learning moment for Emby for those of us who are dealing with this, but there is no need to be rude.

If this was a volunteer lead app, I'd agree. But people literally pay for Emby, I think wanting it to function is a reasonable ask. Waiting several weeks for a fix is a substantial amount of time.

I understand they are now only waiting for LG's approval, but they could have at least unbublished the bugged update so other users would not be affected, but they have not.

HI, we do. We use a combination of real TV's and their provided emulators. In addition, when going through the LG review process, they test very thoroughly on about 15 different devices. Between us and them, neither of us ran into it, so while the issue is regrettable, it is not something that is impacting every single user. If it was then we would have caught it earlier and it never would have been submitted.

Shit happens. Mistakes are made - always and everywhere.
But the main problem is the concept of a "closed", proprietary operating system, 100% determined by others.
The root of the evil here is LG.
And you're always at the mercy of others, if you can't even roll back or sideload your software. So, take precautions. Always have a backup plan or a backup media player for such cases.

BTW, LG, I am still waiting a year now for a promised update to webOS25 guaranteed upon purchase by LG for my device, and my newest LG still forces 2 channel PCM decode with multichannel formats others than AC3 over EARC in 2026. It takes weeks to scroll through this stupid LG content store, with a thousand of Smarters apps and idiotic games, if the tiles and buttons load at all after a few rows, because memory runs low. WebOS is increasingly as useful as a hole in the head after 2024.

Oh, so it's not every user. In that case I take my rant back, bugs happen.

But weeks long approval process for a hot fix update still sounds crazy.

I wish it were faster. We have messaged LG about this in hopes of speeding it up.
