leebo 12 Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 I hate to post yet another "Emby Server wont find... topic, but here we are. Emby has been working as expected. However, yesterday I added a new TV show into the same folder as all my other shows (server folders/ TV Shows/TV Show name). Usually, a new show gets scanned automatically and added to my Emby server TV Shows list. It generally takes only minutes. But this time, the show did not get added. I have tried: Restarting Emby server. Restarting my computer. Starting a manual scan of the TV Shows folder in Emby. as well as a Manual scan of all Emby folders. I even added a new episode of a different show into that shows folder, and Emby scanned and detected it immediately! I checked the user name's account settings and the Parental control is set to NC-17 (the show in question is a network show anyway). embyserver.txt
Lessaj 467 Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 What series did you add that isn't showing up? Is it this one? Quote System.UnauthorizedAccessException: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'M:\ServerFolders\TV Series\Dexter- New Blood' is denied. Also you should probably remove the port mapper plugin.

It does not. This suggests the issue is not show specific. I have no knowledge of what a "port mapper plugin" is. I never installed any plug ins afaik. Edited December 23, 2025 by leebo
Lessaj 467 Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 Okay can you provide the log from when you tried that new show? The port mapper plugin I think is installed by default to try to help with opening ports for remote access.

The show was added on the 18th, but the logs only seem to go back to 12-20. Lots of "error portmapper" and "UPnP error" in that one. I doubt that helps, but I don't know what else I can add.

leebo 12 Posted December 24, 2025 Author Posted December 24, 2025 You are correct. embyserver-63901943953.txt
Lessaj 467 Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 (edited) It would be helpful to know what the show was that you added and at what time, but I see tons of Permission denied errors for episodes of a few shows, that's definitely something that you need to resolve. leebo 12 Posted December 24, 2025 Author Posted December 24, 2025 The test show was "Fallout". Is there a FAQ or something that explains how to resolve those permissions? It's weird, since most of the shows you mentioned are all complete in my library. The ones that have missing episodes are because I never added them all.
Lessaj 467 Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 I just realized this log was from the 21st not the 23rd, can you check again for a log that covers that period? Also the approximate time you tried to add it.
leebo 12 Posted December 25, 2025 Author Posted December 25, 2025 This is from within ten minutes of my attempt to add the show "Fallout". A search did not find that name in the file. embyserver-63902090560.txt
Lessaj 467 Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 Hm, seems like it was scanning, but these permission denied errors may be impacting it. It should say validating, and then completed, one library at a time, but I don't see that happening for the TV Series library, it stops once it hits that permission denied. Lots of pages come up when searching regarding Windows folder/file permissions, it's hard to pick just one to look at but this may help. https://kb.uwec.edu/articles/drives-establishing-windows-file-and-folder-level-permissions

I takes multiple drives and makes Windows see them as one RAID like drive. I've been using it for at least ten years. If you're suspecting it, remember Emby is still finding episodes of already added shows. It's just NEW shows that are not being added.
Luke 42077 Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 OK please temporarily enable debug logging in the server logs section, then repeat the problem and then please attach the debug log. Thanks.

Solution Lessaj 467 Posted December 30, 2025 Solution Posted December 30, 2025 It's the same in this log, it tries to validate TV series, gets a permission died on Dexter New Blood and then starts to validate a different library. I'm not exactly sure that it should do that but please fix the permission issues.

I don't see an issue here. The Dexter folder did have a permission issue, but it's been fixed (just now), and the Plur1bus folder did not have that issue anyway. Would uninstalling Emby and reinstalling potentially fix anything? Edited December 30, 2025 by leebo
Lessaj 467 Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 Please compare Dexter New Blood with another folder that worked previously, it's stopping on that folder.

So after fixing the Dexter folder, I rescanned in Emby. It took a while, but the problem show got imported!!! I had to manually add the Imdb number to get the metadata to show up though. And the test show I did last week (Fallout) is the same. the title shows up but without any metadata. Hopefully that will resolve on it's own. Thanks for sticking with me. 2
Lessaj 467 Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 That doesn't seem normal, but you could try unchecking and rechecking your metadata providers, that might resolve it.
leebo 12 Posted December 30, 2025 Author Posted December 30, 2025 That log file is huge. How did you find that particular issue? It would be great if I could find issues myself and not have to bother others.
Lessaj 467 Posted December 30, 2025 Posted December 30, 2025 Pretty much every error has a stack dump associated with it so I was mostly looking for the Error Report lines, just had to filter out the noise of the Port Mapper plugin. Being familiar with what is typically logged also helped me to know what to look for, I knew it would print out when it was validating each library - that's new in 4.9 I think, before there was just one line that said it was starting a scan 1
