I have (I think) all 6 Superman movies. Superman1, 2, 3, 4 Superman Returns and Superman (2025 version). All but the first one is in my library. I have reload web browser page, restarted Emby, restarted the computer, removed and recreated the library. No matter What I have tried I am unable to get Superman 1 in the list.

I also have the original The Karate Kid, however instead of having the media data for the 1984 version, it has the media data for the 2010 version. The 1984 version is the only one I currently have. I have tried to replace the IDs for IMDB, TVDB and Movie DB but cannot get the correct media data to be applied.

Anybody have any idea how I can resolve these issues?

The best way I've found to ensure perfect matching every time is to include IDs from either imdb of TheMovieDB in the folder name.

Depending on which Superman you're talking about that'd be:

/movies/Superman (1978) [tmdbid=1924]/Superman (1978).mkv

Or

/movies/Superman (1941) [tmdbid=95414]/Superman (1941).mkv

/movies/The Karate Kid (1984) [tmdbid=1885]/The Karate Kid (1984).mkv

If you use tools like Radarr, you can change the 'Movie folder format' to include these automatically when importing media:  {Movie Title} ({Release Year}) [tmdbid={TmdbId}]

Awesome that worked!

Thank You

This appears to be an issue with everything I try to play.

  1. Is there a way to turn off sub titles by default? I have gone into settings and turned sub titles off, but that has only worked for once thus far. While playing others even if the subtitles are off I have to turn them on then turn them off for the file to play.
  2. How do I get a response from a developer or is there a way I can contact them

If it matters I used DVDFab to rip my DVDs which has a feature to add subtitles when available.

This forum is how you contact the Emby developers.  Including server logs for the time when the behaviour you describe happened helps.

Are the subtitles marked as "forced" (look at the media details at the bottom of the item's description page)?

When subtitle settings are overridden manually, Emby remembers this for that item - possibly (I'm not sure) for other unplayed items in the same series> - You can clear the remembered selections in the user app data.  Does that help?

Hi there, have you explored your emby user subtitle preferences by clicking the user icon in the upper right?

How are those options configured?

Personally I would suggest to NOT use the id's the your media file unless it's an absolute necessity. Movies should 99% of the time be matched if you follow the suggest naming convention of:

Title (year) - edition

So:

Superman (1978)/Superman (1978).mkv
Superman 2 (1980)/Superman 2 (1980).mkv
Superman 3 (1983)/Superman 3 (1983).mkv
...
Superman (2025)/Superman (2025).mkv

Be sure to always include the years. That makes managing the files easier for yourself and Emby.

You can turn off the subtitles for each user individually:

1. Emby Server -> Users -> select a user
2. Click "Edit this user's profile, image and personal preferences"
3. Go to Subtitles
4. Set Subtitle mode to "No subtitles"
