Stutting on direct play

Hi,

I've come across a strange issue, I've recently added a 4k movie to my server which is in HDR 10 and has only dolby atmos true hd as the audio track.

For a strange reason when I play the video on my fire tv stick 4k max the video plays for only a few seconds before it stops and then will start again but continue stopping every few seconds, this happens on both the fire tv emby app and android version of the app .

Looking at my Emby dashboard the video and audio are direct playing and I can see on the Sonos app it is playing Dolby Atmos.

However when I use my philips tv which the device is plugged into, it plays without any stutting at all but does transcode the audio to dolby digital 5.1.

Both the fire tv stick and tv are using wired ethernet at 100mb connection and plugged into the same switch.

Any idea what may be causing this?

Thanks,

Liam

Hi Luke,

I have attached the logs from the server, the log was cleared beforehand and set debug logs to true to ensure the logs are easiest to understand.
All playback in the emberserver.txt log before 5:35 P.M UTC-5 are from the Fire TV stick and all logs from 5:35 P.M UTC-5 and after are from the smart tv directly with transcoded audio.

I have also attached the remux log which was generated specifically for the tv and not the fire tv stick to my knowledge.

To clarify the fire tv stick is the Amazon Fire TV 4K Max 2nd generation and the tv is a Philips 43PUS8807/12, specs are linked in case it helps.

Name of the Emby user is "Liam", what happened is I just tried to play the media for the first time and it started occurring, I can sucessfully play non 4k H265 content and non 4K H264 content without issue.

I have looked at the section on attaching logs from the client device however I believe this may be outdated as there is no option I can see in the settings for "Debug Options", there is a page for logs with a share button but all it seems to do is bring me to bing's home page in Amazon's silk web browser, I was able to use the debug options feature on my smart tv however.

Hi.  You might try wireless which should give you a faster connection.  With that high-bitrate item coupled with high bitrate audio, its possible you are hitting a bottle neck.

Hi ebr,

Thank you for pointing this out, it was actually the other way around, my ethernet cable came out when moving my network switch and it was falling back to wifi where it was getting a significantly slower connection (although this slower connection wasn't perceivable on Netflix or youtube surprisingly).
