xooni 1 Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 Hi! Will the new update work for general streaming issues with Roku? For the last several weeks I've had playback errors, saying there are no compatible streams, trying to play any show or movie on my Roku tv.
ebr 16169 Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
xooni 1 Posted October 16, 2025 Author Posted October 16, 2025 (edited) Oops my bad! Attached is the info. The error generates when I try to play a movie/show on the tv. Nothing special is done, but please let me know if any other details would be helpful. All logs from the timeframe are also attached. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-28c15d14-a465-4065-926d-52caef9599df_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-919b2a1d-8be8-4342-b5ce-41775e421fa7_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-596680d4-54a4-4a70-9a74-d5717ddd7002_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-d7f94e2e-b162-47d2-9f2d-0794a9144886_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-dd576f63-d6cf-4b86-8130-5762b1cd1206_1.txt Edited October 16, 2025 by xooni
Luke 42077 Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 HI, did you see this? 21:23:03.330 /volume1/movies/The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025)/The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025) - [WEBRip-1080p] [NeoNoir] [x265 EAC3].mkv: Permission denied
xooni 1 Posted October 16, 2025 Author Posted October 16, 2025 Hi, as an error message on the screen? If so, no! All I saw was the red message in the photo.

He's telling you your emby server doesn't have the right permissions to the media files. That is most likely causing your playback issues.
xooni 1 Posted October 16, 2025 Author Posted October 16, 2025 Gotcha, I'll take a look. I can't understand why it's happening just on the TV but works on my PC/phone.

Solution xooni 1 Posted October 16, 2025 Author Solution Posted October 16, 2025 Hi Luke, yes. I noticed that some files still play, while most don't. I hadn't fiddled with the permissions, nor does anyone else have access to the server. Either way, the new emby update seems to have sorted the issue. The files that were previously unplayable are now working on all devices. Thanks! 1
xooni 1 Posted December 26, 2025 Author Posted December 26, 2025 Hi, I'm back to this again. The issue is still happening. When I download a movie that has never been on the server, the movie will not play on Emby. It will show the message below. Even when I refresh the libraries it does not change. What I have to do is go into the server, click the checkbox "Apply to this folder, sub-folders and files", refresh the libraries, and then the movie plays. I'm not sure why this is happening or what may have happened with the permissions. Has anyone experienced anything similar? It must be a permissions issue, however I don't understand why as no one has access to the server but me, and I have definitely not played around with anything. Thanks
