Update to 4.9.1.80 immediately required?

Hello,

is the update to 4.9.1.80 immediately required, or can we wait for the next update until updating?
Is there some critical bits updated, like security related things?
Or does it modify the database so that skipping it might damage the installation?
I am asking because i am pretty certain that the "Top Picks"-Plugin will stop working after the update. It already just works only pretty wonky.
Unfortunately it is an essential part of my emby setup.
I was hoping for the implementation of the "Smart View" feature to do something with the homescreen, but it seems it didn't made it into this iteration of 4.9 stable.

Thanks for your information.

I suggest waiting first, there seem to be a lot of questions

Yeah I'll be waiting for a few more point updates, this doesn't seem ready for prime time yet. I'm very concerned of reports saying that the date added gets reset for some users to the day of the upgrade. Will definitely be doing a backup of all my NFO files (simple BAT file) before I make the jump.

Edit: FYI, 42,000 NFO files came out to 223MB.

I always wait until the dust settles when there is a big update.

Granted, updates have generally been more robust then they used to be in the past. But unless you badly need some new feature, it is better to let other do the testing for you.. :)

And if your Emby setup/metadata is important to you, then regular backups should be a given regardless, and make it possible to do a full rollback to the previous version.

Ideally yes if you can wait it is usually best to wait for at least the first maintenance release but not everyone has issues with the update as both my production servers updated without issue but I still use legacy xml metadata so will not see some of the issues others have.
