Flofian 3 Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 (edited) I have a lot of FLACs. They all work when playing in the Browser, but a few of them just didn't play in the Windows App (The one from the Microsoft Store) My Server is up to date and has been restarted, same with the App. I am not sure if I am allowed to post these files here, so please tell me if i should. Attached are the log files of the server for playback in both the app and the browser (I couldn't find any logs from the app) Reencoding with ffmpeg did not help. embyserver_browser_firefox.txt embyserver_windowsapp.txt Edited September 16, 2025 by Flofian
softworkz 5066 Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 I've sent you an upload link via PM. Thanks
Flofian 3 Posted September 16, 2025 Author Posted September 16, 2025 Okay, I uploaded 2 versions of 2 files, one version is the original, one is remuxed with ffmpeg 1
Lessaj 467 Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 (edited) You can find the path for the app logs under About btw. It'll be a path within AppData. Edited September 16, 2025 by Lessaj
Flofian 3 Posted September 16, 2025 Author Posted September 16, 2025 Thanks, here is the logfile from the app as well. I censored the Notification tokens / device name / part of the device id EmbyClient.txt

The problem is the embedded image. The spec allows up to 16 MB and both of your files have the same image with 15,473,466 bytes. Windows media doesn't support embedded images that large. (I think only up to 4 MB). I'm afraid, but there's nothing we can do about that at the moment.
Solution softworkz 5066 Posted September 16, 2025 Solution Posted September 16, 2025 What you can do on your side is to reduce the image size like this: ffmpeg-i input.flac -vf "scale=w=1024:h=-1" output.flac You can test whether it's working even without Emby. Just try to play with Windows Media Player. You'll see that after reducing the image size, it will play and you will also see the embedded image in Windows Explorer.
Flofian 3 Posted September 16, 2025 Author Posted September 16, 2025 Wow, didn't know that Windows has a limit for that. Thank you so much, it works now 1
