akaufman 2 Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 Hello, I am having trouble getting the OTA guide data to populate in Emby. As best as I can tell recordings are still working and I can manually go to a channel, but the guide is completely empty. When I look at the logs it appears as if the guide data is downloading, although it says it only took 9 seconds. I do not see any errors that seem relevant to the guide data missing. I also tried to use a different zip code in the same service area, but that did not work. I thought maybe the guide data source is the problem. So I went to https://www.channelmaster.com/pages/free-tv-guide-listings and most of the channels are missing from this guide as well, but even those channels with have guide data are not showing in my Emby guide so I don't think that is the case. Any help would be appreciated. embyserver (1).txt
sa2000 674 Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 Could you get a screenshot of the Live TV / Guide screen please. Is the guide empty when checked on more than one Emby client app ? The 6 guide refreshes showing in the log are just re-using cached data. Data gets cached for 24 hours. It is possible that there was some corrupt cache files You could force new data to be requested for the guide by either deleting the contents of this folder C:\Users\MediaServer\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\cache\httpclient and then running a guide refresh - and please wait until it completes or instead of purging the cache, you could modify the server settings for Live TV / Advanced / Number of days of guide data to download - you could change it to a different number and later on when the issue is resoved put it back to the default value. Don't forget the "Save" button at the bottom of the screen when making this change Can you also put the Scheduled Tasks entries for "Live TV" / "Refresh Guide" back to once a day. There is no point running it every 2 hours when data is cached for 24 hours. And is 20837 your actual zip code?
sa2000 674 Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 In your tests switching zip codes, the schedule for this channel did not come from cache. At 10:14:27 am 15th September - schedule for 4.1 WRC-HD Did you notice if the guide did show the schedule for this channel?
akaufman 2 Posted September 15, 2025 Author Posted September 15, 2025 Here is a screenshot, it looks the same on android, google tv, xbox, and web. Before when I had issues with guide data, at least the channels were listed, but this time no channels are listed. When testing the alternative zip code no guide data populated. I had set the refresh to every couple of hours when I was testing an M3U source with limited guide data, I will switch it back to every 24 hours. After deleting the contents of the app data folder and rerunning the guide data refresh the guide is still empty. Thank you

And check the other tabs as well - Programs / Channels and get screenshots. And now create a temporary new folder and copy out into this temporary folder the files in this folder (only the top level files in the folder - so skipping the recordings folder) C:\Users\MediaServer\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\data\livetv and zip the new folder and let me have it together with the embyserver.txt log and the previous embyserver-xxxxx.txt log (for your refresh after clearing contents of the cache) and also attach the screenshots Thanks
akaufman 2 Posted September 15, 2025 Author Posted September 15, 2025 Yes the files were deleted from C:\Users\MediaServer\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\cache\httpclient Here are the screenshots requested from before attempting the steps above. I will complete the next steps and update shortly.
akaufman 2 Posted September 15, 2025 Author Posted September 15, 2025 Attached are the screenshots, log files, and folder contents. I don't see any subfolders in C:\Users\MediaServer\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\data\livetv is that an issue? Guide refresh was conducted at 13:36. embyserver-63893540122.txt embyserver.txt livetv.zip
Solution Luke 42077 Posted September 16, 2025 Solution Posted September 16, 2025 If you're saying that it's populated everywhere except for the guide screen. then chances are you activated a filter. Try clicking the icon in the top left of the guide and check the dialog that comes up. Please see if that helps. 1

I don't see any filter options when I click the icon at the top left of the guide. I think I have used the filter ever and in the screenshots you can see that "all" is highlighted. However, when I clicked "all" now the guide shows. Edited September 16, 2025 by akaufman

I will see if it can be reproduced 1
sa2000 674 Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 Looking at the data livetv files you provided, I can see that on the 14th September you had Pluto TV channels and these channels had tags - and I suspect after you switched to OTA channels, the old filter tag id's were not purged and the guide view was filtering on a couple of these tag ids Do you recall the sequence of steps you went through for switching from Pluto to OTA ?

I always had ota and tried adding Pluto through m3u. When the guide disappeared I removed Pluto thinking that was causing trouble. For a few months I had both ota and Pluto appearing in the guide. I went camping this weekend so I am not sure exactly when this became an issue but it was working last Wednesday and I hadnt looked at the guide since then. The only other thing I changed was trying the new web streams plugin. But I did use the guide after installing that plugin and I am not sure if that plugin have anything to do with the live TV guide. I thought it was just for organizing on demand streaming in your library. Hopefully some of this information is helpful. Edited September 16, 2025 by akaufman 1
