Emby Server Busy: Sync in Progress

I've been running the Binhex-Emby container for ages. Like, before I even knew about the LS.IO containers.

In the last couple of weeks, I've been getting a notification on Kodi (using the Emby For Kodi Next Gen add on to get Kodi to interface directly with my Emby server, also something I've been running about 2 years) that "Emby Server Busy: Sync in Progress: Emby - xx%" where xx has varied from 90-95.

I've been assuming that was an issue with the ENG plugin, but it just hit me today to check Emby itself, and sure enough, the percentage on the Kodi display matched the percentage in the Scan Media Task in the Library section of Scheduled Tasks. It seems that the Emby media scan is hanging/taking forever.

I'm attempting to attach the latest embyserver.txt in the hopes that someone might be able to read the tea leaves and tell me what's wrong. Unfortunately, the log file is 2GB (as are the logs for the last 4 days) and I can't attach it here. I'm trying to open it in something so I can copy/paste to hastebin, but that's proving to be difficult, too. I'm also open to suggestions on how to post the log (or an indication on how to even open it in Windows. Notepad++ is choking on it, and LibreOffice doesn't seem to be enjoying it, either...

I was having other issues, so I've got a brand new install of LibreELEC on my RPi5. I've got Kodi directly connected to a couple of directories on my UNRAID server for sporting events (they just don't translate well in any media manager I've looked at), and I'm using Emby for Kodi Next Gen to connect to TV & Movies in Emby so I can watch and keep up from anywhere.

If I need to post this as a general question, I'm more than happy to do so, but I figured that the UNRAID specific forum might be the best place to start.

UPDATE:

I managed to get the log opened within the Emby web client. I know I'm not supposed to paste snippets, but I get this error right after the log rolls over at midnight, and there seem to be many, many recurrences of the same error.

Also, I know we're not supposed to zip log files, but that's the only way I could get the whole thing small enough to attach it.

I understand that's against the rules - my apologies, but it's the only way I can attach it.

I understand that we're not supposed to post snippets of the log, either, but, since it's so big, here are the first few hundred lines (from a couple of days ago, today's log contains the same error). This error repeats over and over.

With all the various pieces in place, it does appear that Emby (when I connect to the WebUI from my Win machine) does seem to be running properly other than the fact that the library scan just doesn't seem to want to finish.

If anyone has any recommendation on what to fix to get the "Scan media library" task to complete, I'd be most grateful.

MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: MediaBrowser.Model.Net.HttpException: Network is unreachable (private.omdbapi.com:443)

For whatever reason, emby within its docker container is unable to make outbound network connections, so it's failing to retrieve metadata for or even match items to titles.

Why the network is unreachable, I don't know.

Start with a full system reboot and see if it's still erroring. Beyond that, any sort of firewall blocking outbound connections?

Hi @TheFreeMan, what error happens right after rolling the log over? I didn't click your hastebin link as I've never heard of that site.

I notice your server log is filled with errors trying to connect to omdb:

Network is unreachable (private.omdbapi.com:443)

Do you still see this in newer logs? You may have something blocking those outgoing requests. Typical causes of that are firewall, security software or VPN.

You know, there used to only be pastebin and everyone used that. Then it became evil or something and now it seems that every forum has their favorite text share site. Guess I picked the wrong one for here. Sorry... 🤷‍♂️

I'd had private.omdbapi.com whitelisted in my router, but the Ad Block was still blocking it. After messing with Ad Blocking and the whitelist for a while, I seem to have it working properly now and my Scan media library task is completing in just a couple of minutes
