Cool plugin, works great with my setup. Could we have it allow more than one folder instead of having all media in one folder be able to have many so we can add more Networks folders.

When I reduce the import size to 500000 I get this error and all the RAM on the server is used up. I'll have to wait until I can get a RAM upgrade before I can import the whole playlist. It might be a while with these outrageous RAM prices.

Yeah if you have a playlist that has a massive load of content you probably are stressing out the plugin as well as your computer and Emby server more than likely also is locking up especially if you don't have much ram. It's like opening a massive m3u with VLC player takes 5 minutes to open on low ram, try adding a section of your playlist and see what happens.

You can also use .strm files and load them into emby it works good and you can load as big a list as you want, 150K movies will load into emby fine lol. You can set it up to refresh your server for every 5 hours or whatever you want it will scan your .strm server that you can host on your pc the same one emby server is on when new content is added it will auto load a .strm to emby. Just make an apache server and set emby to use it as a folder and it will auto update just like if you added a movie.

I love this plugin, I tested it on torr server matrix, nzbdav, local m3u made from a shared folder, external shared folder apache server. Just a bunch a stuff and it worked on everything I threw at it so yeah it's a great plug I love it and use it myself.

If you decide to go the nzbDav way you need to have maybe 2 indexers, my setup I use a few more than that but you can use this plugin with it and it works great.

The best way for dealing with large playlists in the WebStreams plugin is to add the same M3U multiple times, each with a different set of filters.

That's how I was doing it, add netflix as one then hulu and so on until you are done. I just think it's a cool plugin I quite like it also it's good for watching live events under adding single stream it's quite great for that.

Your plugin is very good & you focus on live streams but just hear me out   if you added an option to play local content that's not a live streaming link but just from a local library so for example we could have it add a local file "Netflix Movies". I like to have all my netflix movies in 1 folder and disney in 1 folder hulu in 1 folder etc.. so if it was like

Netflix Movies

Netflix Series

Hulu Movies

Hulu Series

etc.. on the home screen would look sweet  I would use that for ALL my media it also would get rid of the horrid "Latest" at the first of all on the home screen 

Also if you were some how able to have it play a trailer in the top right of the home screen when browsing media that would be sick a heck

These are all things that Emby is doing already just without the plugin - what do you think/expect that would be different?

You know that Emby provides many way to configure the home screen and even more in the brand-new stable release?

It would have to be in the core server first. There is an open feature request topic about it.

Well, that feature request should probably be closed - because it's simply not reasonably feasible to stream-playback from an archive in any other way than for playing from the start. Depending on the archive format,  locating the file and determining the relevant compressed stream may require reading archive metadata from other parts of the archive. More importantly, the decompressor may need substantial decoder state, such as a large compression dictionary, which can only be reconstructed by processing preceding compressed data.”

And even worse: You cannot start decompression right in the middle of a file. Decompression depends on state and this state can only be established by starting decompression from the beginning.

For example, when you have a single video file, e.g. 1.05 GB inside a zip archive of 1 GB size (trying to compress a video file with modern codecs gives just minimal savings in file size) and you want to access/extract a sequence of 10 MB in the middle of the video, for reconstructing those 10 MB, all the preceding 500 MB need to be downloaded first, and run through decompression (discarding the results) only to get into the state from which those 10 MB can be decompressed.

In other words: No seeking for remote archives. Even for local archives, it can take a very long time to start playback at a specific position. The farther to the end, the worse it would be.

 

For the WebStreams plugin, what's beeen under consideration is a download feature. In that context, it might be possible to allow it to download archives and automatically exctract the contents when downloaded, but at the moment it's just an idea.
