manny 14 Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 (edited) Hi Logs are reporting "Permission Denied" when trying to play content (LG TV) ... TV App reports "Playback Error" This is a new Windoze 11 build pointing at the same files as my previous Windoze 10 build (no issues) Movies are ripped .MKV files The Windoze folder grants read / write to my EMBY account (Windows User) Interestingly, I created a new folder with an MP4 file made in Da Vinci resolve and this plays. I've also tried playing from the desktop and still get "Permission Denied" in the logs and the browser reports back "Playback Error" Quote 23:04:57.470 ffmpeg version 5.1-emby_2023_06_25 Copyright (c) 2000-2022 the FFmpeg developers and softworkz for Emby LLC 23:04:57.470 built with gcc 12.2.0 (Rev10, Built by MSYS2 project) 23:04:57.470 Execution Date: 2025-09-03 23:04:57 23:04:57.478 F:\01 - HD Movies\1917\1917.mkv: Permission denied 23:04:57.478 EXIT Emby Server version: 4.8.11.0 App: Emby for LG 1.0.46 Grateful for some advice. Luke 42077 Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks! 1
manny 14 Posted September 3, 2025 Author Posted September 3, 2025 Thanks Luke, I've just added the LOG
manny 14 Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 Thanks again. Please see attached. I gave it another go this morning. Same result Moved the same movie into a different folder (where my .MP4 lives) The Movie that I moved worked So a difference in permissions between both folders. As well as the server log I've loaded a newer ffmpeg log to show the three points above. Cheers embyserver.txt ffmpeg-remux-6ffd88d8-e42a-43d9-bbc8-2accbfd83e3c_1.txt
manny 14 Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 Just to add ... looking at folder permissions side by side, they are the same.

manny 14 Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 Should i remove that movie? (I’m not at home to test yet) cheers
Solution Luke 42077 Posted September 4, 2025 Solution Posted September 4, 2025 5 minutes ago, manny said: Should i remove that movie? (I’m not at home to test yet) cheers No, if you look through the log it is filled with errors anytime the server tries to access your F or G drives. In this case the error is different from before. Now it saying device not ready whereas before it was saying permission denied. Both of those errors are things that need to be solved on your end but of course we can try to point you in the right direction. The first thing I would do is make sure you can access those same folder paths in windows explorer, with windows running under the same windows user that launched the server. What kind of drives are they, anyway? 1
manny 14 Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 They are HDDs I will report back later, thanks.

Ah man .. just checked. I've been a complete and utter doughnut. I changed the drive mapping for a bit of housekeeping shortly after my rebuild. Went on hols and forgot all about it coming back home. It explains why the movie that I moved to the other folder to test (which is the same drive) works. Because that had the correct drive mapping from newly setting up. Thank you for your help !! 1
