Local Network Login

I liked Emby on my local network, because it did NOT REQUIRE me to CONSTANTLY log back.

I HATE, HATE, HATE the fact that every time my roommate uses emby I have to, log back in.

That every time the screensaver seems to come on my TV, Emby MAKES me log back in. I've had to log into my tv 9 times this morning and I'm just SICK of it.

I DO NOT NEED that level of security. My home network ALREADY HAS a ubiquiti firewall. Common ports have been changed. We keep our network fairly well locked down for a home network and my network IP regularly changes.  I have PLENTY of security.

There used to be an option for "no local passwords" Please bring that back. Add a disclaimer to it. Do something.

You have absolutely no idea how frustrated I am with this. It's been awful since the change, I have just run out of patience with it.

Hi, what Emby app is your roommate using?

She watches Emby on the same TV I do, we switch profiles back and forth as we essentially swap whoever is really watching the tv.

but the TV is still asking for the pin if it sits idle for very long and requiring me to log back in, even if she hasn't gone to watch tv and I was still the last one to watch it.

it's the main TV in the living room, so it's shared.

Having to go look up the pin every time on my computer to log back into the TV is just exhausting in a way you probably don't get and I don't want to talk about in a public forum.

Did you configure the startup behavior option in the app's settings?

Hi.  When you first log in, it should ask you if you want to require the PIN on subsequent logins.  Try logging out and then log back in and answer "No" to that prompt.  Then you will be able to switch freely between accounts.

@LukeI have set it to "remember me" but what changes do I need to set to stop it from asking for the pin constantly.

@ebrIt does keep asking for the pin, constantly. it drive me insane.  I'll pause what I'm watching, due to a real life interruption, then the tv sceensaver will come on and when I click off to resume, log in again.

I cannot find anything that is letting me move freely between accounts. and now I have to go look up my password again to log back into Emby.

I'm so frustrated with this.

just an update on this, I ended up in the hospital a long time and never got back to this.

I have given up, I changed the admin password to a single number, set the pin to all the same number, told it to not ask for the pin

because inevitably my roommate would change it to her account and when I went back, it would sometime ask for a pin, sometimes it would ask password and it's so frustrating to me since they don't stick in my brain.

no change I Ever made prevented it from asking every time or if I walk away for to long, it wants me to log in again. I hate it. A lot of good these security changes do me when you force me to make it simple I might as well not even have them.

Inconvenience in the way of security I do not need or want or appreciate. Option's are good, choices forced on you for your own good are rarely so.

'I did appreciate all the help, hopefully this will solve the problem for me since there is no other solution.

Sign out.

Once you have signed out and are at the login page:

-select 'no' when asked if you want to require a pin.

-select 'change user'

-login as your roommate

-select 'no' when asked if you want to require a pin.

Now, the other signed in users name is lised beside the sign out and switch user buttons. As long as neither of you ever click the sign out button, you can freely switch between users by clicking on each others usernames and never be prompted for a pin or password.

This works perfectly fine, you just have to use it correctly. Follow the instructions exactly as written and this will work for you. You will also need to teach your roommate to never click sign out, or you will be required to sign in with both users again.

Setting your admin password to a single digit is a really really bad idea if your server is exposed to the internet.
