Locked Views for Mixed Content Libraries Views and Sub-Folders

Hello all,

Is there a way to lock views for Mixed Content libraries and force clients to default to that view, at least for the first time accessing?

For example, I have a library I would like the top library view to be set to Folders, sorted by title, and view set to Thumbnail, and an appropriate set of fields to show. Then in that same library I have sub-folders that need to be set to sort by Year, and view set to Primary, and a different set of fields.

I would like to be able to force these views to all users and devices when they access these libraries. The art work and folder structures in these libraries is specific to the original media's format and content, and the defaults for Mixed Content libraries often leaves my users staring at blank default views. They have to remember what view settings need to be for each library and the many sub-folders or change the settings multiple times until they find the correct one, and then reapply those views on every device they access from. Causes hundreds of view resets and adds a lot of undue strain to using the content. i used to try to set the views manually as new devices were added but I had to give up as it's become just too much to manage.

If I could push or lock what view and sort settings these mixed content libraries or their sub-folders should use it would save a lot of hassle for all involved. Seems like all the client devices I have used recently all have the same set of view options, so I would think adding a locked or a default suggested view could be added fairly reasonably if there is not already something I am missing? Thanks for your time and any advice!

Hi, there is not currently a way to do this because this is the sort of thing you might want to configure differently based on what screen you're using.

The landing page for the library will be shared across devices, but not the other things like image type and fields.

I wouldn't rule out having options to control this on the server at some point as this question has come up before. It's just tricky.

Thanks for the reply Luke, we'll just continue on as is for now then. Just thought I would double check I was not missing something useful for this use case. 😁
