Hi,

I'm using Server to display a movie on my LG Emby app.

When I play it using audio ITA DTS, it continue to freeze/blocks after some seconds. If I instead switch to ENG AAC, nothing happens. What's wrong?

Here's the "ThrottleBySegmentRequest" logs, which is interrupted this way at some point:

It seems the problem its the same now with every DTS audio file 🙃

Strange, I used to watch those movies in the past, maybe a recent update?

@markzzzhomechanging audio codecs via transcoding shouldn't be that big of a deal, unless they're huge files (for example 7.1 with 4 mbps).

I also noticed some issues with for example browser not being able to play EAC, so I convert those to AAC eventhough most tvs support that format.

What does the dashboard activity section say when you're playing a DTS file? It should say it's transcoding similar to this right?

Additionally

>  it continue to freeze/blocks after some seconds

I also had similar issue when transcode throttling was enabled. Is throttling enable on your server and was this disabled before maybe?

Do you mean this?

Its the same with both on/off.

Also: what's "dashboard activity"? I just play on my TV connecting to Emby server, and it blocks always after some secs. If I play directly on pc, it works. So not sure whats going on?

Yep that's what I meant.

Dashboard Activity can be accessed when you visit your server,

Click the profile button -> Manage Emby Server (works both on mobile and desktop).

When someone is playing some media it will be viewed there under "Now playing"

When some of these are not all "Direcy play", it means your server is transcoding. When your server is transcoding, it will take a couple of seconds to start.

Chromecasts are notorious for supporting only a handful of codecs for example and almost always cause transcoding.

Can you share a screenshot of what you see here when you're experience slowness?

Here you go:

Note: its not "slowness", it literally "stops" after some seconds...

Emby its basically useless this way, don't want to return to Kodi or Plex :(

I suggest you to avoid DTS audio file in movies. When I use it my Emby server should transcode very often. Not all clients support this audio format. Just find the same movie with an ac3 or e-ac3 audio track or use a software to convert dts to one of that format.

Which software can easily convert it?

I used an old software before, not sure that I will find it.
I'm sure you'll find the same movie on the internet, but with a different audio track.

I will check however for the sofware.

Ok, I'll convert again to AC3. Not sure why you dont suggest DTS on movies: isnt a format dedicates to movie? I'd expect Emby cover it, since its a standard 😮

DTS is licensed and not all devices have that licensen in there FW.

Thats why you are seeing this.
