cbdudek 17 Posted July 1, 2025 Posted July 1, 2025 (edited) I have an Unraid server with Emby running in a docker. I have all my images saving in the same folders as the media. Today I decided to change some images on some of my movies. I went to Alien and chose a different poster picture. The new poster was downloaded to the Alien directory and it shows just fine, but in Emby, the old picture is still there. I then decided to download some additional Backdrops. I had 3 fanarts already chosen. I chose 2 new fanarts which downloaded into the media folder without a problem. In Emby, it gave me a duplicate and then a different picture. These have got to be pulling from a different cache somehow. I have tried restarting the emby server and doing a library refresh. I have tried identifying the movie again as well as doing a forced refresh of the movie with replacing all images. Problem is still happening. Any ideas on what could be happening? EDIT: I did at one point have "keep a cached copy of images in the server's metadata folder" turned on. I opted to turn on "save artwork into media folders" which started saving the images in the media folders directly. I turned off the "keep a cached copy of images in the server's metadata folder". I bet that there may be some old image files hanging out in that directory though. Could that be the problem? How can I clear out old pictures out of that cache? embyserver.txt Edited July 1, 2025 by cbdudek
Solution cbdudek 17 Posted July 2, 2025 Author Solution Posted July 2, 2025 Well, I guess you could say I fixed this issue. I found a thread where someone wanted to get rid of all the cached images on their server. So I removed all the images only in the imagecache folders and the problem is now gone. So I don't know what the deal was. Maybe when the option was turned on, and I decided I wanted those images locally, turning off that option doesn't delete those images. It just takes and new images are put in the directory with the media file. Anyway, the problem is now resolved.

That is correct. This was rectified in Emby Server 4.9.x beta As from version 4.9.0.32, we now purge the ImageCache on a manual refresh metadata for the library

Thanks for that info. 2
