ITGuy1024 18 Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Hey gang. So I've had email notifications working for years with gmail. I have an email account specifically for sending notifications. On that account 2FA is enabled and I have an app password for emby to use. My problem is that I made a new email account to send the notifications. This account also has 2FA enabled and an app password for emby. I thought maybe I need to allow less secure apps on the google account however the old account does not have that enabled - and google has EOL'd that feature. So I tried to put the old account info back in and I'm getting the same error for that one now. I'm on the latest version of emby. 2025-06-27 09:09:08.432 Error Server: Error processing request *** Error Report *** Version: 4.8.11.0 Command line: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll -noautorunwebapp Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10.0.17763 Framework: .NET 6.0.36 OS/Process: x64/x64 Runtime: C:/Users/Administrator/AppData/Roaming/Emby-Server/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 16 Data path: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata Application path: C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. Solution ITGuy1024 18 Posted June 27, 2025 Author Solution Posted June 27, 2025 Nevermind... Emby needs rebooted after changing the email notification settings apparently. Reboot fixed it. 1 1
