Playback has stopped working suddenly - just sits at loading screen when playing media

Hello - This morning emby server just stopped playing media. Media I played yesterday is not playing, it just sits at the spinning wheel loading screen when you play a file. I tried rebooting the server and no change. I first experienced this on my Roku and was able to replicate the issue on my PC with the web interface. I am able to play the files fine on my PC. I don't think anything is playing, I tried both new files and stuff I played yesterday that worked fine and nothing will load. I have not changed any settings or messed with anything recently.

Ok I was able to fix it but I did a few things so not sure what the fix was. First I ran a plugin for unraid called "Docker safe permissions" which I use when I can't read/write to folder over smb (ie in windows explorer). I've never had this impact Emby and after it finished I tested playback and it still wasn't working.

Next instead of doing a reboot I did a full shutdown of the emby server and restart. After that playback was restored.

So it could be that it wasn't actually rebooting? When I selected reboot it completed the process almost instantly so maybe it wasn't actually doing it and the full shutdown worked. Alternatively maybe the shutdown after running the permissions fix did the trick. I've attached the logs post shutdown and restart. It'd be nice to know if there was a permissions issue as that means I need to address that  problem on my server quicker. Thanks!

Hi, it's hard to say because there isn't an obvious difference between the before and after. Is it still holding up?

Yep still working great. I don't think me shutting down the emby server did anything because I did a reboot of the unraid server prior which would have done the same thing. That makes me think permissions issue. If during the transcoding process emby has issues with local storage, would it be indicated in the logs?

Yes, whether it's accessing the media or writing to transcoding-temp, any problems with that would show up in the log.
