You must use the path substitution (or how Emby calls it "Optional shared network folder") on Emby server (not Kodi). I already explained it, the server must report the "correct/modified" path to plugin while sync (every path substitution change on Emby server requires a repair sync on Kodi/plugin). This is the golden piece of information I didn't have. I wasn't aware of optional shared network folder. This step should be at least mentioned in the github wiki or the FAQ here. I'll try it later today after work and check if this works with native access. 1
Veggav 10 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Just wanted to say it worked! This is all I ever wanted. I'm using a homatics r 4k box that can play dolby vision profile 7 FEL (only from mkv) and using coreelec it can also play 4k bluray iso in dolby vision (without FEL) but still.. It's the best we can get from a single device. Emby managing artwork and library.. beautiful interface in kodi and iso support. That's great. Thank you for your hard work in this addon. 1
geowill76 8 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Hi Quickmic Not sure if something has changed with plugin but having problems getting Kodi to pick up the fact I have local trailers. I am running the following setup: Kodi Version: 21.3 Skin: Bingie v2.0.2 Emby Server Plugin 12.4.13 The issue I seem to be having is that Bingie won't play any of my local trailers, either on spotlight or widgets, even when I browse my movies by enabling autoplay trailer or going into the information of the movie and pressing the trailer button. I have my trailers named in the same folder as the movie, ie Arrival (2006).mkv + Arrival (2006)-trailer.mp4 This use to work a while ago and only thing that has changed is that I have been updating my Emby plugin to the latest version. Is there anything you can do to help? I opened ticked in the Kodi Bingie forum and local trailers are working for them. Only difference is they have the media local and I am using the Emby plugin to sync the info.

Please find attached log file. kodi.log 454.74 kB · 2 downloads Should this log include the failed trailer playback, cause I don't see any playback issues. Actually I only see playback of regular content. Did you play a trailer via infoscreen? Edited February 26 by quickmic
geowill76 8 Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Hi Quickmic I will try to get another log file to you tonight. Basically, with Bingie skin, if I hover over a movie, in this case it was 2 Fast 2 Furious, it should automatically play the trailer in a window after 3 seconds. I will get a log file of me going into the movie itself and pressing the Play Trailer button, which doesnt work, so it is captured in the log file to see what the problem could be.
audiom3 12 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I've been experimenting with Kodi for a few weeks. I'm running E4KNG (latest release) on CoreELEC. Is there a trick to get Emby "Sort by Names" to take on Kodi? A few examples... Star Trek OG Boxset sorts as I've set it in Emby. But in Kodi, it's last after the Alternate Universe and The Next Gen. Then there's issues within the Boxsets themselves. I have Rogue One and Solo first before Ep.I. But in Kodi, it insists on sorting by chronological order (ie Ep.IV is first). Same with Superman (Richard Donner SM II version is last). Sure its easy to go into each Boxset and change them in Kodi manually. But thats a pain when I have 5 devices and multiple profiles on each. Not to mention all of my family who I will get to move to Emby for Kodi. I've reset my local database, uninstalled E4KNG and everything. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Thanks!

Sorting is a Kodi function and is not related to Emby server's (sort) settings. However, if you use custom plugin nodes, there is usually a pre-setting for sorting. But could be overwritten by your settings. You see, tricky to say what's the actual "problem" and frankly, I think Kodi does exactly what you configured. However if you found a specific issue and can track it down to custom nodes, I'm happy to fix it.

But I thought there might be a way to instruct Kodi to arrange movies/shows the way Emby does - by the "Sort title" field. Ah well. Thanks for the info.
RonB26 15 Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Hi Quickmic, I'm not sure exactly when this started, but after selecting a live TV show (IPTV addon), Kodi will not release the tuner when I stop the TV show it in the GUI. When selecting Live TV to record using the Kodi context menu, It will record and stop properly with no issues. If I reboot the Emby server, The tuner is released. I'm currently running Kodi Piers Alpha2 Ver 22.0 Compiled 2026-02-27 and E4K Ver 12.4.5 HDHomerun 2 tuner box. Please let me know if you need further info. Thanks! 1

dml33 25 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Hi, quickmic. I have an issue with external .srt subtitles. In Kodi, I have set that, by default, english subtitles are played. If the movie has just only one srt file associated, it is played automatically. That is correct. But, when it has more external srt files, the english one is not played. (In my case, the spanish one is used, instead). For example, the movie folder contents are: Movie.mkv Movie.ENG.srt Movie.SPA.srt Movie.TUR.srt In Emby, those files are correctly detected, and the english one as the default one (I have the same settings as in Kodi): But, when the movie is played in Kodi with embyforkodi (next-gen) 12.4.11, the spanish one is always played. Could you please have a look at it? Thanks!!
seashell 42 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I haven't carefully debugged this but I noticed something when playing with various versions of coreelec and thus doing fresh installs of e4k. 12.4.10 through 12.4.13 did not load any movie extras. The database shows hasVideoExtras=0 in the movie_view. Going back to 12.3.8 the extras are correctly loaded and the flag is set appropriately in the database. I only list those versions as they were all that I tried while playing around.
quickmic 1707 Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Thanks, I'll check both, subtitles and specials.
