System is Lenovo laptop running Windows 11, intel cpu, and nvidia gpu.

When I play in windowed mode everything is fine.  But then I switch to fullscreen and the video shows for a second, and then it goes to black (blank) but the audio is still playing and the emby overlays (controls, logos) are still showing.  I went int the video player and display controls and changed things a lot, but always the same result.  Any advice?

It's transcoding, and it shouldn't be. Check your settings for transcoding in the server and check your settings in the app. You've set a limit somewhere. And I'm thinking that because your refresh rate is 120, at full screen the server is struggling. But it shouldn't be transcoding.

why shouldn't it transcode?  I'm remote and the internet connection is not strong.

Well, if you're remote then that's different. But there is a setting forcing it to 1Mb. And it's outputting 113fps, which is less than your display rate. Trying changing it to 60fps and see if it plays.

How do I change the fps?  The Emby Window setting has an option there for the nvidia gpu, and the drop down when i click it allows for 30fps or 48fps.  I tried both but still the same results when it goes fullscreen.

Ok, so first choose your Nvidia adapter

Then also choose it in Windows

Then what options does Windows give you? And also check your Nvidia console. Your display may not support 60Hz, but try all of these settings and see what happens.

I think it is Gsync.  I disabled Gsync in the Nvidia control panel and now fullscreen works fine.

Having this same issue and have been for months. Disabling GSync should not be something you have to do.
