Emby recognize subtitle caption as 'Ossetian (SRT)' , it seems gets from the 'OSS' in beginning filename, but according to the wiki https://emby.media/support/articles/Subtitles.html#other-names , it shold be displayed as 'Chinese(NewMov字幕组)'.

Emby server version: 4.8.11.0

Hi, this might already be resolved on the 4.9 beta channel, but I think you can fix this in 4.8 by using a valid language code on the right side.

Because this is not a valid language code:

Chinese(NewMov字幕组)

So fix that and then your problem should be solved.

For example you could set it to zh-cn or whatever you need.

Hi luke, use iso language code such as 'movie.zh-CN.mkv' 'movie.en.mkv' did display the right language name, but what about the "Other Names" in wiki, even when following the same naming scheme as the wiki case, emby doesn't display the language names correctly. other-names

emby server beta 4.9.0.49

OK what we can do is split it on the '(' character and check the part before that for the language. But I would suggest using the language code rather than the language name, because some languages have more than one variations.

But also, while we can handle parsing the language with the (, if you want to actually see Commentary in the user interface, then it should be:

home alone.en.commentary.srt

Thanks luke, use filename.en.commentary.srt solves my problem. Perhaps the relevant part of the wiki needs to be modified, as its case cannot be reproduced.
