stettler 30 Posted March 14, 2025 Posted March 14, 2025 How is it possible to automatically start the Windows App at boot? I know that the FAQ says to right click on the Emby icon to open the file location and create a shortcut to it in the startup menu but that doesnt seems possible: Under Windows 11, there is no option to open the folder location. Anyway, Store Apps are installed in %programfiles%\WindowsApps which can't be accessed (even as admin) without changing the owner and taking ownership of the folder. Then, there is the problem that the apps is in a folder whose name contains the version. That mean that after each update, we would have to create the shortcut... So how are you doing it? Powershell script?
pwhodges 2012 Posted March 14, 2025 Posted March 14, 2025 You do it in the Windows Settings. Rather than tediously write down the steps, I'll just link a very short video demonstrating it: Paul
stettler 30 Posted March 14, 2025 Author Posted March 14, 2025 Thanks but the Emby app isn't listed among the apps. I only have the old desktop app (that's the first thing I checked...). Maybe if I remove the old desktop app and try to install the new one from the store, it would be listed? But I am not sure I am willing to take the risk as it's not possible to download the old desktop app anymore.

I have updated the FAQ with a simple method that works on latest Windows 11. 32 minutes ago, stettler said: Maybe if I remove the old desktop app and try to install the new one from the store, it would be listed? stettler 30 Posted March 15, 2025 Author Posted March 15, 2025 It's working like that, thanks! I hope that we don't have to redo it each time there is an update to the app. Now it's time to find all the media that don't play in the new app

Enjoy the improvements! Not that hard: 2nd videos I tried just blocked everything (that video play fine in the old desktop app). But I have to do more tests... 1
