App Update compatibility with Samsung TVs

Is there any update or a time frame when newer samsung tvs will have up to date application updates like.other devices. I am also asking because I cant even install the updated app via USB as I get a security compatibility error.

@Lukeis there a timeline? I ask bwcause the current app i am using is buggy & i am.at the point of calling samsung bwcause they are just dropping the ball with software. There are apps that seem to always update with diffenet version but im.guesing that they are companies that pay to get to the front of the line?

In the meantime, try reformatting the USB (FAT32) and download the latest version from here and try again.https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/raw/master/tizen/tizen.zip

Q80c, 65 inch & 2023 crystal for my son. My son had no problem with updates until samaung updated to the new smart os which sucks. I love their tvs & sound bars up they have been dropping the ball with software. When I tried to update from usb, I think I formatted the USB stick to ntsf...if I said the correct initials lol.

Yes, I don't think NTFS works for this, let me know how you go with fat32.

@SamESi finally had a chance to try the usb download again with the stick being formatted to FAT32 & it worked. Only issue I still notice is when watching live tv, i still cant select the guide to view what's on the other channels, I have to back out of what i'm watching & then select guide.

If you press down arrow while watching, then can you access the guide?

@Luke I suspect another example of not being able to navigate the OSD during live playback as no element has the focus.

@SamESso I installed the usb version on my sons samsung crystal tv & the guide works. When i press down on my 2023 q80c 65inch nothing happens. Only thing I can do is back out when watching live tv.

No. You can see then icons but you can't select anything.

The 'Info' key is the one you want - which is not so easy if you have the remote with only a few keys

If you have the 'Smart' remote, press the colored dot button twice and select info on screen.

@SamESok that works but can i ask why I can't just select the down on the screen? To have to go through the extra steps doesnt make sense......unless it's bwcause of samsung ...then that makes a lot of sense.

Up/Down just shows the OSD, but for LiveTV the navigation on the OSD is currently broken, however it should be fixed in the next update.

Pressing Info is just a quick work-around for you as it shows the Info view, then after that navigation is possible.

@SamESone more question. My remote is sometimes unresponsive. When I try & hit the back button it's not working & I have to hit the home button to exit emby & then go back in.

Not something that I've had anyone raise before.  Does it work fine in other apps, or just Emby?

Just emby. I'll play around with it some more to update. When it becomes unresponsive I hit the home button then go back in & then exit or i just hold down the power button & restart the tv.
