critchy 11 Posted February 26, 2025 Posted February 26, 2025 Title says it all really. The roku is set to remember me (cog icon in the emby app), but it rarely does. I've had to sign in twice just today. I never have to sign in on my PC or android, just the 2 roku sticks. Another thing, which I don't know if it's related, is that the emby server icon in my PCs system tray starts off normal but fades and shrinks. I can barely see it atm, but I know it'll be back when I restart the server app. And then it will fade out again. Does that mean something? I did search the forum about the login problem, but all I found was the setting and I already knew about that. Any pointers would be appreciated! All firmware is up to date, I've restarted the roku stick, done a factory reset etc.
ebr 16346 Posted February 26, 2025 Posted February 26, 2025 Hi. Exactly how are you exiting the Roku app? If you choose "Sign off" then you will need to log in again the next time.
critchy 11 Posted February 27, 2025 Author Posted February 27, 2025 If I'm the one doing it, I'll either just hit the home button on the roku remote or I'll back out of Emby and select "exit". I just tried both ways and it didn't ask me to sign in. It also didn't ask when I turned it on after work today. I've never selected "sign out" and my wife says she hasn't either. No one else uses it. I have one server and only one user.
critchy 11 Posted February 28, 2025 Author Posted February 28, 2025 Nope. I just checked it for the first time today and it wants me to select server / sign in. mumblegrumble It's been like this for a while now. I removed the password because of it. Sometimes it works but usually it doesn't. It's always a bit of a surprise when it works.
ebr 16346 Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Are you doing anything in your server like deleting devices?
critchy 11 Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 I see no reason to mess with the server as it doesn't happen on my android or PC apps. My PC is always on and the server is always running. The PC doesn't sleep. The PC was new last September, and the problem predates that. I'm running on Win10. It didn't ask me to sign in today, but there's still time yet
ebr 16346 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Please go into the Roku app "Advanced" settings and turn on "Debug Options". Then, the next time you have this issue, as soon as you get logged back in, immediately send a log from the app by using the user menu at the top of the home page. Then come back here and tell me exactly what time you sent that log. Thanks.
ebr 16346 Posted March 8, 2025 Posted March 8, 2025 Thanks. [ConnectionManager] InitialSignInTaskComplete: Result: Unavailable I think the above is the key. I think what must be happening is you are starting the app and your server is unreachable for some reason. Perhaps the network hasn't fully initialized yet. Perhaps it is sleeping and is in the process of waking up? Do you allow your server to sleep? What I think happens in this situation is that the app resets its remembered credentials since the ones it just tried failed with the server not existing. Can you please tell me exactly what happened, step by step, in the log session you sent? Thanks.
critchy 11 Posted March 8, 2025 Author Posted March 8, 2025 Thanks Ebr. Just yesterday I noticed a message in the corner of the Roku home screen that said 'not connected to the internet' and wondered if that could be the problem. I have seen it before, but not very often. Usually it's TV on, wait for all the "smart" stuff to load, then ignore it completely by switching to the Roku stick and loading emby as soon as the Roku is ready. It could very well be that the network hasn't initialised yet. I might have to give it a bit longer.
ebr 16346 Posted March 8, 2025 Posted March 8, 2025 We can try and reproduce the issue now that I have a suspicion of what it is and see if we can make it more hardy in that situation. Thanks.
critchy 11 Posted March 9, 2025 Author Posted March 9, 2025 Well that's good to hear. I don't want to waste your time!
