This issue exists on 25.04 with kernel 6.14 aswell. The problem is emby can't use the driver's. Plex has this issue too. Apperantly jellyfin does not have the issue.

Just updated to Unraid 7.1 final (6.12.24-Unraid), the same problem is there.

Hi, in the near future we'll have a new ffmpeg build so please stay tuned for that. Thanks.

Is there a timeline on this? I am honestly hoping for this year.

Correct, I can transcode with jellyfin without issue.

Can you share your settings for me to try.

I'm running kernel 6.14.1 and map /dev/dri path itself.

That's it.

Can't wait, don't hesitate if you want me to test some things.

No worries @Lukemy ARC B580 is back in the box and perfectly fits on my shelf as a book end, it's been working perfectly since February.😉

@Lukeany idea of road map time at this point? Been watching the beta release notes and no mention of updated ffmpeg being added.

Good morning,

I'm sorry to hear you're in the same boat as the rest of us. If you're looking for a meaningful response from Luke, just take a look at the responses given by him(or his AI) in this thread, then you'll see how hopeless this situation is.

Honestly, I'm not sure what's going on, this isn't the Luke I know from 2019 (when I first became a patron), he was so driven and an absolute Beast at getting things done; he certainly has the skills and the talented staff to back him up, maybe things have gotten too big and their whole team is inundated with work, OR, maybe they just lost the "eye of the tiger" and are on the schneid.

If you can return your B580 maybe that's the best scenario for you given the lack of progress, drive, and desire made by the emby development team since 2024 when this card first hit the market.

Have a great day.

@Nostradamus1973Like you I've been a lifetime key holder since Aug 2016 when I moved off the monthly key. Just don't visit the forums much and until my prior GPU died in December (when I bought the b580 as it was the most available in my area for the cost, also brand new so "longer/newer" support over the A series kicked in) had no reason to stick my head in.

I know the pain of waiting for extended periods of time and waiting for some feature additions to be added compared to breaking/blocking bugs. Also well aware that changing out a key library can impact much more than any single hardware configuration so such an ask is a rather large/breaking change that needs consideration and planning even before execution on deployment. Throw in the dev work needed to address bugs etc and that is exponential.

Doesn't help that anyone can ping pretty much anyone on this forum so if it was AI (doubtful) or an army of people (more probable but would like to think otherwise) monitoring/responding its futile at best to be able to respond to all pings with much time.

This was why I haven't kicked up much of a fuss - I can use my B580 for other tasks within my workstation and my CPU isn't so old that it struggles with transcoding. Simply want to keep this thread alive so it doesn't get drowned out by the countless others that impact more people.

Would it be great to have the ability/steps to swap out/update the built-in ffmpeg builds on a per install basis? Yep.

Would it be reasonable for the Emby team to try and debug issues that are raised when custom builds are used? Nope

Would the people who update their ffmpeg builds following any provided steps take the time to revert back before filing a ticket? Would be the ideal approach but we don't operate in a vacuum.

Would it be great to have the built-in ffmpeg updated across the platform itself? Seems that this scenario would be the most "controlled" approach which again needs time and prioritization accordingly.

Would I be willing to offer my time/hardware for testing should an Emby dev reach out to try some things? 1000%

Would I be surprised if no one did? Not in the slightest nor would I expect it.

As of 4.9.2.1-beta, my b580 works, I’ll mark this as the solution after I test it more on more devices

That's awesome, I'll have to try it on my Proxmox 9 rig with LXC passthrough.
Looks like @Lukehas been back in Beast-Mode cranking out Beta revisions the last few weeks, and now this bit of loveliness, he's back to kicking ass and taking names like the old days.....Woot!

Thx for the Update and a special Thx to @Lukefor getting this done.

Can confirm, loaded 4.9.2.2 beta and See all kinds of options now. Started messing with VAAPI but will shift to Quicksync shortly.  Both VAAPI and Qucksync works from my totally scientific testing.
