Tandhruil 26 Posted January 8, 2025 Posted January 8, 2025 (Sorry for my english, I'm french) Actually I've got a personal photos library on my windows computer where I store photos from family smartphones and camera. It's strctured like : MyPhotos\Holidays MyPhotos\Friends MyPhotos\Sunset MyPhotos\... Using Synology Drive Client these directories are store in my NAS in a directory like //home/.../Backup/My PC/MyPhotos/Holidays/ (etc) associate with the user Backup I've got a Library of Personnal Photos in my emby server. Actually, I copy the photos from my PC to the NAS Emby directory. //home1/EmbyLibrary/MyPhotos/ Is it possible to create a symbolic link beetween my backup directory and the emby directory to let Emby use this link for the Library ? How do I have to manage the rights between emby and backup user ? Will It be still available after a reboot ? I'm not really fluent with linux
Eigeplackter 90 Posted January 8, 2025 Posted January 8, 2025 I'm actually using Synology Photos in addtion to your setup, so my folder is a sub of /photos. You are not saying if your Emby server is running on that synology, but if though, you can easily add the path as a library and give the emby system user on the synology read-permissions, or read-write if you want to.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback. You're right, the Emby server Is on the NAS. I don't use Synology Photo but I don't want to le the user Emby acces to all my backup folders. With symbolic link, I thought I could allow user Emby to access in read-only only to my photos directory.
Eigeplackter 90 Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 Yes you can do do this with permissions on the synology nas. 1
Solution Tandhruil 26 Posted January 13, 2025 Author Solution Posted January 13, 2025 (edited) OK, so, I gave user Emby rights to read to the directory /volume1/homes/Backup/.../'My Photos' with Files Station I connected with ssh on the NAS ln -sr /volume1/homes/Backup/.../'My Photos' /volume1/MyEmby Add the path /volume1/MyEmby/'My Photos' in a new library "Home Video and Photos" And It works well even after a reboot. Thanks anyway Edited January 13, 2025 by Tandhruil 1
