twosix 1 Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 My media library type is TV show. I checked The Movie Db in the episode metadata downloader settings and set it as the first priority. However, I cannot see the TMDB ID setting in the episode metadata settings interface, and it also failed to fetch the correct Chinese metadata from TMDB.
GrimReaper 4739 Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 Try Refresh Metadata or re-Identify on series level.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 (edited) It doesn't exist at episode level as there really isn't a providerid per episode at least on TMDB. Edited January 6, 2025 by Happy2Play

Is that so? But actually I can find the title and synopsis for each episode on TMDB. Also, there's a third-party Android app called Yamby. I can set TMDB ID for individual episodes on that. I manually set it to match the show's ID and it can correctly fetch the title and synopsis for each episode from TMDB.

I haven't looked at the api data but Emby does not pull by episodeid that I know of. As that would be where season types/groups would come in. But of the 3 metadata managers I use none use episode tmdbids.

What steps should I follow for debugging? Or what kind of logs do I need to provide for you? Additionally, when checking the logs, I found that it's not getting episode metadata from TMDB, but instead calling TVDB's API: 2025-01-06 23:59:13.062 Info HttpClient: GET https://api4.thetvdb.com/v4/episodes/10397930/extended?meta=translations. However, TMDB's data is more accurate. Even if I disable other downloaders and only check TMDB, then refresh the metadata, this issue still can't be resolved...
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 But you cannot compare different provider data as each provider data differently. As Emby log will show TMDB Series id followed by season and episode number not a episodeid. Quote 2025-01-06 08:19:22.083 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.themoviedb.org/3/tv/1412/season/1/episode/1?api_key={apikey}&append_to_response=images,external_ids,credits,videos&language=en-US&include_image_language=en-US,null TVDB will get data completely different.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 I have no idea how a episodeid would even work as the api Details
Solution twosix 1 Posted January 6, 2025 Author Solution Posted January 6, 2025 37 minutes ago, Happy2Play said: I have no idea how a episodeid would even work as the api Details Thank you again for your answer. I found the issue - it was because the metadata for the corresponding TV show was updated on the TMDB website, but the data in the TMDB API hadn't been updated yet. After I entered the TMDB ID in the app, it refreshed correctly because, during my debugging process, the data in the TMDB API happened to sync with what was displayed on the website. 1
