Emby can't find my external drives

I just switched to Linux for the first time so please forgive me. I tried installing Emby but apparently it was already installed because it said I already have the latest version. I then went to the start up wizard and started setting up but I can' add any media because it can't seem to find my drives. They appear to be mounted and I can access the movies in the folders. I just can't seem to figure out how to get Emby to see the drives.

You probably need to do this!, Linux automounting is very limiting...

So try this to properly mount your HD('s) (you can ignore the stuff at the beginning about the Pi)

https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-mount-usb-drive/

Since you haven't said what distro of Linux your using I'm assuming it's Debian based...

Thank you TMCsw and Luke! That tutorial for the Pi did the trick.

Everything was going great but one of my drives says this?Screenshotfrom2025-01-0221-48-14.png.f4dbfab7236f45f8c1a3e257747af3c0.png

Ya,  That disk was a Windows boot disk before right?

Windows formats it's boot disks with 2(two) reserved partitions at the start of the disk (the first 499mb the second is 100mb if i remember right)

so extending a disk volume is rather easy but prepending is a lot harder So really In just suggest you levee it alone unless you have backup!

It's an external usb hard drive. It was never a boot disk as far as I know. That's why I'm a little confused.

I think I will just get any movies off that drive and reformat it. Then I should be able to mount it and put my media back on it?

Okay,, but i do recommend you remove all partions on the hd then format it to ext4, .. and restore the backup, happy trails.

by the way

that can happen, you can get a returned disk, that may seam to be a cheap and sold as new!
