Hi, please let me know what you need to help resolve this.

I have downloaded some videos in MP4 format, but not all of them actually show up in Emby.
I'm not sure how to check what codecs are being used for each video.

Happy to upload a sample video if that will help, but if not, please let me know what I can show on my side.

I am currently using Emby on a Synology, DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 8, which is the latest version for my device.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Lenderjack and welcome, how are your media files organized? Folder structure, etc. Can you show an example of that?

Are you following the recommended naming convention? See: Movie Naming / TV Naming

Hi seanbuff,

Yes, I am using the standard naming convention in most folders, but this particular library is using "Home videos & photos" as the content type.

The reason being, it's basically just YouTube videos and such.. there's nothing to pull down from content fetchers. See screenshots below:

This is the library I'm trying to figure out:

These are the ones downloaded:

These are the only ones visible in Emby:

For comparison, this is how my other libraries are organized, and they seem to work fine:

Thanks for taking a look!

@Lenderjack

Hi, try putting each video in it's own directory like you do for movies.

Try two or three of the problem (no show) videos as one video/one directory and scan the library.  If that solves the problem, you can do the others.

What may be happening is the "missing" files might be a "part" of one currently showing. The names don't specifically follow our mufti-part movie naming but may be close enough that some are doing this while others aren't.

If creating a directory for each video doesn't help or fix this issue, please upload your server log file so we can take a look.

Carlo

PS If these are on Synology, use File Station to check the permissions on any of the missing files and compare to ones showing up. They may have a different owner, or permission setting that could keep them from being discovered by Emby.  The log file would help know what's going on.

@Carlo Hey Carlo, thanks for the suggestion! It looks like moving each video into a separate folder is working just fine. I'll see if I can correct the rest of the videos this way. Appreciate the help!
