Mazter Jedi 3 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Hey guys. I have gone thru the forums looking for a solution and have been unable to find a fix that works for me. I upgraded my hard drives in my Emby server to larger ones. Copied all my files to external drives, physically replaced the drives, copied all the files back. Same folder structure, same files, everything. Fixed my library settings since some drive letters were changed. Emby finds and identifies all my TV shows just fine. However none of my movies show up on the home screen. The library screen in settings shows the different folders with images for the movies therein, but nothing on the home screen. It does show Collections, with images, but clicking it says "No Items Found". I went thru and deleted everything except the MP4/MKV files and let Emby re-do the entire thing scratch over a few hours, and same thing. I have checked to make sure somehow my movies were being omitted from the home screen but it doesnt seem that way. Any help would be much appreciated. TIA.
GrimReaper 4740 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 You have Movies library path as root "M:\" while the other libraries have their paths as its children. You need to change that to something like "M:\Movies". Though your current setup with those overlapping/nested paths (and adding/removing them) might break your database, YMMV.
Mazter Jedi 3 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) I thought about that....but the issue I have with that is I have always had my setup the way it is. This server is literally 7 years old. Nothing has changed on it except adding new files here and there. So I dont know what could have changed, seeing as the only thing different is the physical drives and the drive letters *shrugs* For kicks and giggles I am going to take one movie folder and move it to the M: root folder and see what happens. Either way, you have your libraries set in the way that is not recommended, how do you proceed is entirely up to you. As a sidenote, does your user have permission to view/access all those libraries in Settings>Users tab in the sidebar>edit desired user>Access tab up top? Edited December 30, 2024 by GrimReaper 1
pwhodges 2012 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 If the problem with overlapping paths arises when setting up libraries, it is quite possible that a newer server version might behave differently; that's to say, the fact that a deprecated setup worked for you before is no guarantee that it will work now. Mazter Jedi 3 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 So having my movies in subfolders doesnt work anymore?
Lessaj 467 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) EDIT: Too many replies before mine, didn't see there was more posts, disregard Edited December 30, 2024 by Lessaj
Mazter Jedi 3 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 So I tried as suggested and put all the movies (in individual subfolders, no longer separated by genre) and here it what I get:
pwhodges 2012 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Please show us the exact folder structure you have now, and the library definition; otherwise we're still guessing just what you're situation is. Paul 1
Mazter Jedi 3 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 It was always M:\Action, M:\Comedy, etc. Each subfolder, representing a genre, had the movie in indivitual folders, such as M:\Action\Top Gun\Top Gun.mp4 I scrapped the subfolders and just put all the movie folders right on M:, such as M:\Top Gun\Top Gun.mp4
Mazter Jedi 3 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 So here is the latest after letting the meta scan finish.

Mazter Jedi 3 Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 No, I didn't. Not sure how that changed. Like I said, same everything, same install, same settings, everything. Sure enough it was a check box. I never thought to check it since I am the "owner" or "admin" and there are no other users. Don't think I am going to bother putting things back in subfolders now LOL. Thanks alot. Sometimes you just need another sets of eyes! 1 1
