MarkTheNewf 4 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 (edited) The app updated overnight to the new release. Ran it this morning and all was good. Tried to run it again this afternoon and it runs the sparkly animation screen but then just hangs at the black screen with the Emby logo in the middle of it. Rebooted and Emby started up without issue. On a whim, I shut it down & started it up again. Same thing: sparkly screen and then gets hung on the Emby logo screen. I've tried this 3 times and it'll only run once after a reboot. If I shut it down, it'll hang on the black screen. I uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled. Same problem. Running Windows 10 Home 22H2 64-bit AMD based system. Edited December 24, 2024 by MarkTheNewf
Solution MarkTheNewf 4 Posted December 24, 2024 Author Solution Posted December 24, 2024 AH-HA! Found the gremlin. Emby theater wasn't replaced by the app. Both were still there in the start menu. I uninstalled both, rebooted, and then installed the new app (from the MS Store) and it's working. Weird that the other/old version wasn't replaced. It should have done that, right?
softworkz 5066 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 We have two legacy apps, one is a store app and this one does get replaced, but the other one, "Emby Theater Desktop" has always been separate from the store and using a different installer technology. It is being phased out over the next year but not immediately replaced. Please see the FAQ,
