Lordsnooty 5 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 (edited) Hi there I must be missing something but I came to this thread because I just uploaded a new comedy series called "Oh Child" which I legally downloaded the complete series 1 to 6 from the BBC and uploaded it to my Synology Nas only to find that Emby would only show episode 1 of this six part series (yet I had all the episodes uploaded to my Nas). I then looked into the three dot ... and found that there was 5 missing episodes and because they hadn't officially been televised on the BBC, Emby also wasn't showing them and I couldn't play them via EMBY. I then searched Google to try and find out why Emby wasn't showing these episodes and I came across this discussion in this Forum and found out that in the earlier part of the discussion that the function for missing Missing Episodes had been removed (for the life of me I honestly don't understand why). I am a fully paid up member of EMBY and the Admin of my Emby and I just don't understand why I can't watch episodes using EMBY that I have uploaded to my Nas when these episodes are there. Why has this function been removed? Am I missing something here? Surely I should be allowed to watch whatever I have loaded up onto my Library whether or not it has been given a release date or not? I can go and watch these episodes on the BBC iPlayer because they are on the BBC Web Site in the UK (where I am from) but I don't want to watch them there....I want to watch via EMBY. Again I am a premium user of Plex and I'm sure I could watch via Plex (but I would rather use EMBY because I like the layout of EMBY). Can somebody please explain why I cannot watch episodes of a series that I have uploaded to my Nas? Thanks PS. see the listing of all the episodes 1 - 6 as seen on my Synology Nas and then see the one episode shown on EMBY (dated the 21st November 2024) Edited November 28, 2024 by Lordsnooty
ebr 16184 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Hi. If you click on that episode, do you see the other ones in the "Version" drop down? 2
Solution rbjtech 5284 Posted November 28, 2024 Solution Posted November 28, 2024 include the emby supported naming convention - s01e01, s01e02 etc instead of Series 1- 1.... (as Eric has hit on above, I think the Series 1- 1 (with the lack of space after the 1) is causing emby to think this is a multi-version of episode 1. ie only child - s01e01 - Eh?.mp4 only child - s01e02 - Raisins.mp4 1
Lordsnooty 5 Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 Hi guys…….thanks……you could be right. I just tend to leave the numbering and the titles the way they are downloaded from the BBC. Because normally it works and I never have had an issue like this (I have downloaded 100’s of series like this and I never have had an issue of missing episodes). I will change the series convention in this case and see if it works and let you know how I get on. Thanks again for your help……I really do appreciate it.
Lordsnooty 5 Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 (edited) Gosh guys you are AMAZIN…..that worked a treat. I just went onto my phone and logged into my Synology NAS and went to the files and changed them into the sequencing as you suggested (s01e01 s01e02 etc) and it immediately worked and now all episodes are there (even though those episodes have not been televised) …….so yes it works. In future I will try and make sure that the BBC series comply with this naming convention Thanks a million Edited November 28, 2024 by Lordsnooty A few spelling mistakes 1 1
