Heyho,

as this is my very first post on this forum I would like to say thank you to the emby team and community for this great product! I came from Plex and I'm totally in love with emby premiere!

There is one think, that might already be available but I can find it on the internet.

Is there a chance to get the ability to create custom objects (Movies / Series) that I own physically on BluRay/DVD to be shown in the Movies / Series or an own library in emby that just shows a hint "Available on Disk" or s.th. like that so I can organize my BlueRay collection with Emby? It would be great to have all my Movies and Series vom Disk on the big screen.

Thank you!

Hi - Welcome :)

yes you can do this with what's called a stub file.

see here on how to name the 'dummy files' - you can create a new library for them if you wish - or maybe put them into a collection on existing libraries - your choice.

https://emby.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/44001159146-media-stubs

If you have the digital version online as well - then tagging that with 'PhysicalDisk' or something like that will allow you to then create a collection or filter by that tag.

Lastly - if you are really clever with your file naming - you 'may' be able to actually do a multi-version - with one being the digital copy and the other the stub !

(I've never done this myself - but worth trying :) )

I just tried my last suggestion out of curiosity - and it works just fine. :)

So after creating a stub file (see below) it appears as a multi-version file.

Depending on the client - I'm sure it used to say something along the region of 'insert the disk to play' but on the web client, it just errors if you attempt to play the 'disc' version.

File naming -

Folder name MUST be the same as before the '-'  Folder name = 2 Guns (2013)

Digital file = 2 Guns (2013) - WEBDL-1080p.mkv

Stub file = 2 Guns (2013) - BLURAY-1080p.disc

Create the .disc file as a .txt file (in notepad etc) and then rename it.

Hey,

just tried it, seems to work but ending up in an error message on android, web and samsung Tizen TV instead of showing that it is a disc version.

As the only files I can't play are those stub files i can live with that. Error --> Disk

Thank you again, will have a long day tomorrow :D

Yea it used to say 'please insert the disk' but I guess that has slipped by the wayside as a now rarely used feature - but as you say, it's really just a reminder that you have the physical disk - so serves it's purpose.
