Dariusz 25 Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 So I finally managed to do it.. Got to upgrade my server to latest Scale 24.10 so i can use docker for my apps.. I was originally running EMBY on AsustorNAS.. then moved it over to TrueNAS Core but i was not able to get HW Transcoding to work so I finally pulled the trigger to update CORE to SCALE and it is great! HW transcoding finally shows up! Install of EMBY, setup, restore, configuration of my SMB paths was just a breeze using docker.. However, now I ran into an issue that is absolutely driving my up the wall that I do not know how to get around.. On all my previous versions of EMBY whatever i saw in my in-home access on the GUI, i used to portforward on my router and i was able then to access my EMBY using EMBY connect from anywhere.. Now, my WEBUI address (is on my home network range) is not the same as the in-home access IP (not my home network range).. I can not access EMBY using in-home or remote (which is using a certificate).. only the web UI address works.. i tried passing both 8096 and 9096 ports on both IPs (in-home and web) and i can't get it to work for EMBY connect.. any suggestions on what i'm missing here to get EMBY working remotely to be seen on EMBY Connect? I'm hoping it's something very simple I am missing, but that in-home IP being different from WEB UI confuses me..
Dariusz 25 Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 I have been trying to figure this out all day with no luck.. After I posted the original topic, i realized i should have done it in the Linux section rather than here.. if possible, please move it to proper topic location.. i figured i will add a couple things such as EMBY log after restarting the container and some additional info.. Within the app container settings, there really isn't much i can play around with to change or setup differently. My port forwarding is set to pass port 9096 to my WEBUI address (my local network one 192.xxx.xxx.xxx).. I can use my WANIP:9096 from outside network using that port.. but just can't get the in-home (LAN) or remote (WAN) that's within the app to work.. Also my emby app on home network will not detect EMBY server.. I have to manually enter the WEB IP address and port to access it.. (192.xxx.xxx.xxx:9096) And EMBY connect does not work because my remote WAN is not working.. I don't think it's a certificate issue either.. embyserver (5).txt
Luke 42077 Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Hi, is the container configured in host networking mode or bridge?

Hi @Luke I used the default settings when installing it on TrueNas Scale.. it was installed in bridge and that was the screenshot of what i seeing in app.. I could not get this to work for me in-home or remote.. drove me nuts lol.. in the end, i saw the option on the emby app in TrueNas Scale settings to select "host network".. I redeployed the container and it changed over to host. Now everything works as it should be.. my emby app now detects the server in-home and i can access it also from outside my network after passing through the remote port on the network.. 1 1
