A few questions about collections

I have collections working well, creating a set anytime I have 2 or more from a collection. A few things I was curious about:

1) What exactly is 'collection metadata'?

2) Are there any ways to get automated collections on other types of collections, such as grouped by Director? Or can you only do this manually?

Not in the core server, no.

Hmm.. mine seem to auto-create without that setting enabled though? Would there be a difference with that on or off?

What setting? You may have collection info in your nfo files. There is no setting to prevent that from being imported.

Ah my image didn't post above. This setting here is disabled, but my collections create just fine. Wondering if there is any further info if this would be enabled:

If that unticked then you should check you nfo files.

Yes if that were checked you might have gotten richer metadata for the collections that were created.

Thanks, will enable. If I now 'refresh metadata' will that fetch anything that might have been missing? Curious to see if there are any differences.

Yep, ran the refresh metadata and it pulls in a description. That seems to be the only difference.

Yes that pulls in what you would have gotten if it were enabled when the collection was created.
