UltimateOne 1 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I have an Emby setup at my home. Nothing crazy processing wise, but I have built a good size library over the years. If I stream to my Android mobile device, or on my kid's TV when I visit him out of state, would (or could) that be considered Copyright Infringement by the ISP? (Spectrum, in my case). I know ISPs are primarily looking for torrent/pirating. However, in this case, I'm just talking about streaming to other Emby instances. Has anyone encountered problems? Should I be concerned? Any input in greatly appreciated.

Solution rbjtech 5284 Posted October 19, 2024 Solution Posted October 19, 2024 (edited) Are you are referring to Emby Clients ? If yes, then that is what emby is designed to do. If you own the source, then playing it back/streaming on any device attached to emby is considered 'fair use' (could be the other side of the world, it doesn't really matter) but it ultimately depends on the copyright laws in your country, some are stricter than others. Neminem 1519 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 If you have prof of purchase ( recite, invoice ) , I can't see the issue.
UltimateOne 1 Posted October 19, 2024 Author Posted October 19, 2024 Thanks @rbjtech. I'm in Ohio. I would be streaming to Emby clients from my server I have set up. Fair use makes sense. Has anyone set up a VPN just to be in the safe side? Or should I bother? Just concerned about performance issues.
Neminem 1519 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 I use wireguard vpn to my server if I go to a foreign country. Not so much for my servers sake, but privacy. 1
