Backup of favorite home videos

I switched from Emby Server docker to the portable Windows emby server. To migrate, I copied everything under the full backup folder that the backup plugin created and restored the content with the backup plugin again on the new server.

In the backup, I'd included metadata of library and people, also I save metadata of tv shows and movies libraries to nfo files, not for the home videos & photos library though.

When I restored and scanned the libraries, I lost my home videos and photos favorites, although it kept the movies and shows favorites. Why is that and what could I have done to keep the favorites of the home videos and photos library ?

@ThomasPdtHi, using the backup plugin to restore from windows to linux or vice versa isn't fully supported at this juncture. The path separators / and \ need to be normalized to allow this to work fully. Once we've done this then it should be able to handle anything, but apologies that it currently does not.

Thanks, makes sense.

Do you have an idea why the restore was successful for show and movie libraries but not for the 'home videos' library type?

Should I have maybe changed the type of library to 'movie' before migrating to the new server to keep my favorites? Where are the favorites stored, in the metadata database ?

Movies store their user data based on things like tmdb id, imdb id, etc. That makes easier to retain data when moving to a new server machine.

Home videos don't have this and therefore the data is stored based on the raw folder path, which of course is going to change when moving between windows and linux.
