Managing User Access to TV Libraries

Hello, new to Emby and trying to setup user access as follows for 2 users:

1. Both Users should have access to all Movies
2. User 1 should have access to specific TV Shows (But not user 2's shows)
3. User 2 should have access to specific TV Shows (But not user 1's shows)

I have played with tags a bit, but struggling to get the desired outcome.  Any help\guidance would be appreciated!

Could you elaborate a bit on what you're struggling with, as tags are the way to go for intended purpose (if you don't have TV shows split into multiple folders in which case you could use Folder access restrictions as well)?

Sure, when I use Tags on TV Shows and define parental controls for tags, it works as intended.  User 1 sees their shows and user 2 sees their shows.

I am only assigning tags for shows that User 1 should see.  I then use parental controls to give User 1 access to those shows only, and exclude them from user 2.

Since I am not tagging movies in any way, user 1 is not seeing any movies.

You should make two tags and use "Block" tags mode for users. 

Example:

1) 

Tag 1: "User1" 

Tag 2: "User2" 

2) 

Tag items you'd like User 1 to see with "User1" tag. Ditto for User 2.

3) 

User 1 Parental Controls tab: Block items with tag "User2"

User 2 Parental Controls tab: Block items with tag "User1"

 

That way they'd both see all movies (as no tags on movies) and only selected TV shows. 

 

Edit: Another variation would be to tag all movies with third tag (like "All"), and use "Allow only" tags mode for User 1 with tags "User1" and "All" and "Block" tags mode for User 2 with tag "User1".

OP was already advised in the very first reply on Folder-based access control as alternative solution.
