mrsmithb 11 Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 I have a specific device that gives me problems with audio in the Emby app. This is a video device made for mounting in vehicles that runs an older version of android. It's a touch screen and in many ways resembles an android tablet. I installed Emby from the Play Store and it works perfectly, EXCEPT it will only play videos that have a stereo audio track. On anything else, 5.1, etc...there is no sound output. I believe that the device only supports stereo sound but the app is not forcing the stream audio to be downmixed to stereo. Any ideas what I can do to make this happen? I tried limiting the playback quality to 1mpbs hoping it might force downmix during transcoding but that had no effect.
Solution yocker 1247 Posted October 1, 2024 Solution Posted October 1, 2024 See if "Emby for Android TV" is available in the Play store for that device. I know that version of the Emby client has a downmix to stereo option. I don't know if it forces the server to downmix to stereo or anything but worth a try.
mrsmithb 11 Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 Awesome, I considered that but hadn't tried it yet. I know I had emby for android tv on a different device at one time to fix a different issue (black screen during playback on Samsung dex). I may have sideloaded it...
mrsmithb 11 Posted October 1, 2024 Author Posted October 1, 2024 So I believe the issue has been resolved. I first installed the emby for android tv app, which was available natively in the play store for my device. As you expected, this did resolve the sound issue, however I had alot of trouble navigating the UI with the touch screen. At this point, I went back and tried the web interface again, which I had tried before and not been successful. However, this time, I had changed web browsers, from Chrome to Firefox. And lo and behold, it worked flawlessly. So thanks friend, for helping me come to a resolution. 1 1
