Hi,

I've seen that there is an old thread from 2019 - 2020 about the Android TV version not showing subtitles.

I am having a similar issue. I am using a Firestick TV 4k with the Android TV app at version 2.1.14a.

If a file has more than a few subtitles (I can't tell you the limit, but let's say it's 10) the subtitle is shown as selected in the interface, but it's not shown. If using the webplayer this issue is not present.

Does anyone have the same issue? I will append the logfile asap

Hi!

I just sent (two ?) reports from the app (I believe the second one counts). The UTC time is 3:21pm, so it should be 10:21 ET.

I have done the following: opened my media and selected Italian subtible, to no avail. I am going to do the same in the webapp and it's going to show them just fine.

I will post the server version and the log in a second message

I just played the same portion of video through the webapp and it showed the subtitles with not issues.

The user is called "luca" and the server is version is 4.8.8.0

I am attaching the server logs, there are 4: the embyserver one, a directstream one for the AndroidTV app and two transcodings for the webapp. Emby server is installed on a Debian machine inside Docker.

I hope I was able to provide you with all the information you need

I guess you nailed it spot on.

You can use Tdarr to get rid of the not used subs.

40+ subs is a lot in a video stream.

Yeah, that video has a whole lot more than 10 subs :).  Trimming those back to just the ones you actually need should solve this for you.  You can also try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares.

Thanks.

Hi,

I am a bit surprised that Kodi can easily handle more than 10 subs, while the Emby AndroidTV can't. I will try out the other app.

The other app works fine. I am planning to get an LG tv soon, am I going to have the same limitations on that platform as I do using the androidTV app?

Hi, no, but also are you happy continuing to use the other app?
