Lun 4 Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Hi everyone Out of my 20'ish users, I have one that keeps having problems with authenticating to the server. All the accounts are connected via emby connect and I manage none of the passwords. Yet, this very specific user keeps having issues logging in. The server returns, invalid credentials and I see the same on the Emby logs. The user then changes the password on the website and most of the times that works for another couple of weeks until it starts giving out the same error. The user in question, only logs in through the web browser (Firefox mostly) and doesn't use any Emby apps. The emby server runs on a windows server and is currently on version 4.8.8.0. With all that said, and since none of my other users have this issue, I believe that the easiest fix would be to completely remove his account from the server and create a new user. So my question are: - How can I migrate the historical usage (watched shows, etc) from one user to another? - Or should I look elsewhere to try and figure our the source of the authentication issues? Thank you in advance.
Luke 42079 Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 @Lunit sounds like they are using the local login screen to login directly to your server, rather than the Emby Connect login screen. That's why you're seeing the login attempts in your emby server log. They need to click Change Server, then Sign in with Emby Connect. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
Lun 4 Posted October 4, 2024 Author Posted October 4, 2024 Hello @Luke After a lot of testing I think I might have had an issue with my internal network config that caused that user to not be redirected properly through the emby connect. I corrected the config, restarted the emby server and now there seems to be no issue accessing it through the https://app.emby.media. I'm just now left with one leftover issue. When we were looking for a workaround, I created a pw for this user. How can I remove his local account without affecting the emby connect one? Thanks!

Lun 4 Posted October 4, 2024 Author Posted October 4, 2024 But the users without a defined pw are unable to login using the local user + pw. This user (I'm assuming because I defined one) is able to login using the emby connect and his local account. I'm looking for a way to remove that local login method for this user. Am I missing an option somewhere? Thanks!

Lun 4 Posted October 4, 2024 Author Posted October 4, 2024 That was what I was thinking. Thanks @Lukeand @ebr! 1
