Van Der Valk Season 4 manual naming

I just got Season 4 for Van Der Valk and instead of it being the 3 episodes that TVDB and others have it as PBS's Masterpiece Theater broke in down to 6. I would like to know can I manually name them accordingly and add the info for each episode so when selecting it in Emby it shows up like it is on PBS?

6 listed

https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/shows/van-der-valk/episodes/

3 listed

https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/97085-van-der-valk/season/4

Says 6 but when you click on season 4 thare are only 3 listed

There's is no automatic way to process those as 6-episode season as with all providers (TVDB, TMDB, TVMaze) it is a 3-episodes season, only TVDB has them listed as such under "International Order":

https://thetvdb.com/series/van-der-valk-2020/seasons/alternate/4

Alternate orders are somewhat supported in Emby currently (only DVD and Absolute orders), if you want to expand on those/include additional orders you can lend your support here:

That said, in your scenario you have two options:

1) Have them as 6 episodes and enter all metadata manually

or

2) Merge those episodes to have 3 of them as per Aired order

Like I said "manually" enter the info, cause I figured if possible that would be the only way to do it. Just no idea how to go about it much less for a single season.

OK I see all files for a series are listed under their season and can manually be edited per episode. Thanks

What exactly did you edit?

Had to edit the metadata for each episode so they ended up correctly in Emby. This isn't a Emby issue. It is how PBS chose to air season versus how it was suppose to air. Seasons 1 - 3 all 3 parts roughly 90 minutes each. On PBS season 4 is 6 parts roughly 45 minutes each. So when fixing the episodes I also added the overview for each episode straight from PBS's Masterpiece.

Van Der Valk (2020) S04E01 Safe In Amsterdam: Part 1.mkv
Van Der Valk (2020) S04E02 Safe In Amsterdam: Part 2.mkv
Van Der Valk (2020) S04E03 Hope In Amsterdam: Part 1.mkv
Van Der Valk (2020) S04E04 Hope In Amsterdam: Part 2.mkv
Van Der Valk (2020) S04E05 Secrets In Amsterdam: Part 1.mkv
Van Der Valk (2020) S04E06 Secrets In Amsterdam: Part 2.mkv

When originally the release was going to be

Van Der Valk (2020) S04E01 Safe In Amsterdam.mkv
Van Der Valk (2020) S04E03 Hope In Amsterdam.mkv
Van Der Valk (2020) S04E05 Secrets In Amsterdam.mkv

So did you rename the files or edit something inside of Emby, or on tvdb?

As I stated I edited the metadata in Emby after manually naming them.

What fields did you edit? Episode titles, descriptions, etc? Did you have to edit season and episode numbers?

Posted

Episode titles and sort titles and added episode over view.

Thanks guys for the help and input just one thing I asked that wasn't answered, and that is when Emby goes to update the database will it mess with my custom show information? Thanks

Depends on what do you refer to with "update the database"? If on server update - no, if on Refresh Metadata - depends on what are your refreshing? If you Refresh particular show and that item (or individual fields) are not locked, it will, you'd lose all custom metadata, hence it would be advisable to lock those items or fields.
